Lovely 1999 Quattroporte

Would there be many people who would pay 19k for this over the better, prettier QP V ? I liked these when they came out as they were different and quirky but couldn’t have one at that money over the later model.

Love it and it looks awesome but as much as I would love to have another would I pay £19k probably not but if you compare it to a Ferrari 400 it's cheap.

Mrs Z pointed out it's still to new to bring here without the Irish revenue wanting their cut and over £2k per year road tax

Agree with no your comments. Tempting though and whilst it may appear highly priced then the mileage etc somewhat help justify this.

As Andy said not many may be interested due to the newer mark V QP looking the more attractive proposition. But in my eyes they are very different cars, with the older one pulling a lot more at the heart strings. Saying that I’d take a well sorted Ghibli GT over it, but they are also few and far between…

I think the asking price reflects its rarity as a RHD manual, anyway it's definitely tugging at my heart strings a bit. So do all the QPVs I keep looking at on Autotrader ;)

I chatted with the owner a couple of months ago. He bought it at the Syon Park auction (where I first saw the car) but he hasn't gelled with it. The engine is hunting at tick over, so that needs investigating.

I made him a sensible offer, but he's not keen to budge on the price, as he wants to get back what he paid for it at auction. Hence I dropped out.

Manual, V8, Maserati .... does it get any better?

I love the design and would have that in a heartbeat if he includes the driving gloves :)

Seems a shame he hasn't mentioned the engine hunting in his advert.

Great info and shows why it’s so important to get the full picture on a car for sales actual state of condition.

I wonder if the issue at idle has been fixed properly or at all? Given it has been into a couple of the main Indies fairly recently, you’d have thought this would have been looked at. Could be something simple as often linked to intake leaks, throttle body, idle control valve, MAF or similar…

Now you say that, I think he's had it sorted. It went to an Indie (possibly Autoshield, from memory) after we chatted, as it needed a full service and the cambelt was overdue. So that work has now all been done. So I believe the car is now in good shape and ready for the next owner. I'm still interested, just not at his current asking price.

That’s good to hear and paints a more positive picture of the car and recent ownership. Not often one like this comes up for sale with so much going for it. So tempting

"the 32 valve V8 engine (originally from Shamal) "
I don't think so (the crank)
The LHD model is quite cheaper and easier to get.

That would make sense, as if it’s easier to get, it’ll be cheaper. That’s how supply/demand works.

Not many V8 EVO manual cars were sold here, and of those that were, not many are still in good condition. Meaning the few that are, have value.

It does look pricey compared to a QPV but nearly everything on the road does imho. You could source a cheaper car, but assuming all issues mentioned above remediated it would take a lot of luck to source something similar at a material discount.

These EVO QP IV cars tend to sell in the low-mid teens (when in good condition), on the rare occasions they do crop up. This asking price of £26k is plain bonkers. Maybe he just needs to demonstrate to his wife that the car is for sale, when in reality, he wants to keep it as a neighbour for his Diablo.

Paint on this looks fantastic. Needs more pics though.

He’s quoted Magnus Walker and nailed a Bob Marley and the Wailers album to the wall rather than listening to it so really needs shooting!
