Hi guys, picked up my second granturismo sport about 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. One little thing I have noticed is a slight ticking noise, you can hear it both cold and hot. If I turn radio off and listen carefully you can hear it faintly inside the cab. It's a even ticking doesn't get louder or quieter, just stays the same. Have done a bit of research and seems fairly common with this engine, just thought I would run it by use as well. Car is obviously still under warranty so keen to hear your thoughts. Car was fully serviced before I got it. I have tried uploading a video but says extension not supported.

Cheers danny

PS just to add car seems to run perfectly fine, no lights etc.

Run.......its gonna blow!

Seriously get it checked out under warranty - might be worth an independent having a look so you have a second opinion up your sleeve before you go back to the dealer?

Thanks guys, I got the car from nareman at nuvola. He's a nice chap. I will give him a ring to see what he suggests. I just carnt remember re calling the same sound on my previous granturismo sport or it may have been a touch quieter

Unlikely to be the injector but most likely the vacuum solenoid valve, might need some padding around it to avoid transmission of the ticking through the frame - not serious but annoying nevertheless.

Cheers for the replies, it seems more consistent when engine is at running temperature and it is exactly the sound zep described (tappety)

Test drove an Aston Martin Rapide today - also a very similar ticking noise (my Maser has the same noise) - I would say probably injectors or vacuum solenoid

Ticks are ok. It is when you do something wrong and it tuts that you have to have your wallet ready.

I have a £250 Golf Mk4 that ticks - its the purge valve on the fuel return EVAP - totally normal apparently

My GT also ticks slightly on idle, but I can't hear it if I close the window
