Does anyone on here know of a Maserati service in Melbourne equipped with an SD2 diagnostic tester, other than Zagame ?
Could you recommend Maranello Motorsport in Richmond ?
Grateful for any suggestions as well.

If it's this place, I walked past there on the way to Duttons recently. Looked expensive, but they probably know their stuff.

They had this on display at their entrance

Maybe they know their stuff, but I'm super critical of all the bling.
ATM I'm working on a Unidiag tool in cooperation with Scantools in the UK because there isn't any satisfactory service in Melbourne that I can find. I know there is a genuine SD2 tester salvaged after the liquidation of that Ferrari service in Brighton some years ago. The current owner wants ridiculous money for it,probably trying to recoup the money he lost. Thanks for the reply. BTW,where's Ruben Gonzalez when you need him ?

Try reaching out to Alvin at AutoRacingTechnik in Melbourne.
He has an MCV, and is on this forum from time to time.

Thanks Bruce,I remember meeting him on the MOCA runs some time ago.
Stop press: Spoke to Ray at Auto Racing Technik & they have the Leonardo Tester which will do the job. And now for the scandal...............Ray says Alvin tried to take over the business & scamper off with the money ! So Ray is now a one man band and in a bit of a tizz until things are sorted out.

That explains why he never got back to me when I was asking about custom ECU mapping to occur during my last trip to Melbourne.
As it turned out other Maserati expenses took priority. Ray will still be the one to do it later though, so thanks for the intel.

Paul Plaszek does have equipment which works, however,I won't go back there after the way he attempted to dupe me last time.

That looks like one of those replica's based on a MX5, with the plastic panel kit from Classic Alfa in the UK!

Dave
Thanks Dave, I'll have to take your word on that. My Alfa knowledge is very low. Ask me about a BMW though ….

Hello folks of Melbourne,
I now have a working diagnostic tester for Maserati 3200GT with SD2 electronics. If anyone is having troubles with their car please contact me,I may be able to sort out all the errors and either clear them or monitor in real time. I also have a professional tester for all modern Maseratis, which I use for servicing. This tester covers 3200GT with OBD11 electronics.

Discovered an old thread on another forum where "Lee" posted the original Unidiag software. There is a third zip file which covers Airbag & ABS systems, downloadable, but hasn't been trialled on a Maserati.

For those having a modern Ghibli diesel; Don't pay the absurd price of a Maserati oil filter, buy the same thing, also made in China from the manufacturer Xuke Auto Parts Co. Ltd., in Shanghai. email: customer @oemassive.cn
I paid A$15 CIF for a pack of three, part #1J910025. Also fits Jeep Cherokee which is the same engine in the Ghibli.

He told me he had a new clutch kit on the way,not yet delivered ,for about A$3000. So I agreed to bring the car back for clutch replacement when the kit arrived. He never called. I found out that there are new clutch kits available in Adelaide for A$1200,so I bought one of these and did the whole job & quite a few other repairs when the gearbox was out of the car for less than $3000. Although he diagnosed problems with the car he seemed very diffident about doing required repairs & seemed too vague in his interpretation of the fault codes. "Shifty" is the word.

I could not fault the work Reuben did on my car. He not only fixed all the items but checked other possible parts & his standard of work was excellent. I would recommend him.

Good to know about the $1200 clutch kits. Have you got a contact please?

My dealings with Reuben were the complete opposite.

The first time I met him Reuben displayed unethical behaviour toward another company that had recommended his place of employment to me in the first place- I won't go into details here but happy to discuss via PM.

The second time I dealt with him, he showed to be completely incompetent as a mechanic. He caused significant damage to a brand new Larini x pipe he was given the task of fitting to my car. He attempted to fit it upside down and because it wouldn't fit, he tried to help it along by using what was most likely a hammer. He actually left it upside down!
It was not until I took my car to Ray at A.R.T to fit a drive-by wire that Ray noticed the x pipe was not only upside down and full of dints but it was also leaking!!
It cost me a few hundred dollars to reverse the issue and when approached, I didn't even get an apology let alone any refund/compensation.

That's an interesting comparison between our dealings with Reuben. AFAIK he went back to working on trucks after a brief period working from a garage in St. Kilda junction. He has significant family problems which get in the way of permanent employment,I feel sorry for him.

3200GT clutch kits are available from Australian Clutch Services, part no. KMS24001. The kit is genuine Sachs. www.clutchpro.com.au

I found a member who modified the throwout bearing so it doesn't fail by welding on stiffening pieces to the lugs,here...http://driven.boards.net/thread/175/maserati-3200-clutch-release-bearing.
This also allows to adjust the touch point of the clutch so you get about three times the wear from the clutch plate. A very worthwhile modification which I will do when time comes to replace the clutch again.

Thanks for the info. I just realised yours is a 3200 (mine is a gransport) but will be worth talking to them when the time comes to change mine.
