You also have to start thinking about the Strads rising in price.

With this level of rarity and fact they get snapped up at this rate, it bodes well for current owners.

All it takes is a couple of say 2 seat Strad owners to put their cars up at £100k and the whole market moves. Dealers have been doing this for years.

And no, I am not selling and looking to boost my potential return here, 4 years in to ownership and I’m still smitten with the thing.

I know if I sell it, 6 months down the line I will want another and will have to pay to get it.

I like your thinking but that philosophy has yet to make it's way to main dealers.

I have been speaking to them about a MC20 and I got some hypothetical finance prices from them, including a PX price on my 2013 Stradale. Full history, no issues, wants for nothing, 31k miles - anyone care to guess on the px price suggested?

Somewhere between £30K and £35K and yes I am being serious :(

You're very close, should I therefore be thankful that it was £37.5k?!

Of course, if I were to change the Stradale, it certainly would not be on a trade in at a MD, but interesting to get their numbers

That is clearly an attempted robbery, I assume you got a crime number?

Indeed, they also added that come next year when the MC20 would be ready to be delivered and the finances needed to be firmed up, this quoted price would probably have dropped!

Based on my conversations with an ex local MD 3 years ago, they need to have £15k across a car. I was shocked but the breakdown was not madness; workshop prep to MD standard £2-5k even for a car recently serviced by them, £3k warranty, £3k VAT on gross profit, sales & sales manager commission, discount on cash offer and usually a small profit to pay for the multi million pound investment Ferrari/Maserati require for you to be able to play the game. They really wanted to retail my old QPV GTS for £50k but could not go above £35k to write a cheque. £15k may work across a 3 year old 488, but not Maseratis so the reality is probably they saw your car at £50-£55k retail.

Yes, makes sense when you see it broken down like that but does not make for pleasant reading

These are the clever main dealers that called me when my Stradale turned 3 last year and suggested I bought a newer Gran Turismo. The conversation didn’t last very long after I asked them which newer Gran Turismo was a better buy than a 3 year old Stradale??? Good try Mr MD.

Which explains why people like Dicky G have a rightful spot in the market place, returning owners a far higher price whilst still making an honest living. I imagine, on a quick SOR, he would return you a figure starting with a 5.

I called in to Carr’s Ferrari/Maserati in Exeter today to chat through some options. I didn’t talk part-ex possibilities as I know that is the one way I wouldn‘t move a car on.

So what % of the UK Stradales do we have on the forum do you think ?

There were about 36 of the 2 seaters sold here, so we have almost a third on the forum, given that some have been crashed or exported.
I can’t now recall how many of the saloon versions were sold, but it was quite a lot more and they were available for several years (not just the one year, for the 2 seaters). I’m thinking about 110, meaning we have nearly 10%. The addition of useable back seats was a major attraction.
So, we’ve got about 15% of the UK Strads on here. (Plus 1 in Chile!)
