MC Victory vs Gransport

This may well be the case but it seems like a Marketing blunder, if you update the engine on a limited special edition and not make it know.

Then again, Maserati and Marketing blunders seem to go hand in hand if the Centenary is anything to go by.

Poor documentation at the factory. One presumes that the replacement parts will cost more as well?

See I really still can not see it as the extra 7k it cost to get into an MCV new over the standard GS doesn't feel enough for mechanical changes......The seats cost a bloody fortune, the carbon front bumper and rear one two are thousands so surely there is not enough money in it for more than what they did....

The number of Gransport Spyders is hard to gauge. This website lists 75 but we know the real number is less, probably 15-20 only. The problem is that the DVLA incorrectly lists many cars so the figure quoted will likely include 90th Anniversary Spyders and maybe even normal spyders and coupe too within the full numbers.

One thing is for sure, they are rare as hen's teeth.

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/maserati_gransport_spyder_s-a

Point of note is that the GS Coupe is listed as both Gransport V8 S-A and Coupe V8 Gransport S-A (which I have one of) so you need to combine both to get a realistic picture. There are 14 MCVs currently which fluctuates a little as they come in and out occassionally from Australia. Hong Kong, Singapore and the like as people personally import/export them.

For me the spyders wheelbase is to short, making the car look out of balance in a way, especially when you put it next to the coupe.
And it is unbelievable how different a spyder feels compared to the coupe.

The coupe feels rigid and tight, even in sportsmode on bad roads, while the spyder feels like it is going to crack somewhere sooner or later.
But then again, a spyder next to the coupe, for driving over smooth roads on sunny days....yesss.

It's great that we all have different perceptions, the one thing I like about the Spyder is the proportions, it has the perfect long nose and stumpy rear with just enough room in the middle for the doors. The more I see it the more I like it.

Agree with the drive, the coupe is much more a hardcore drivers cars, taut and rigid. The scuttle shake on the Spyder is a bit annoying but other than that it has a well sorted chassis, it is no hairdressers car just for posing.

The best bit of all though is on sunny days you get the full strength aural experience as those Italian stallions are released.

Fully agree, Andy. The short wheelbase of the Spyder is just right, otherwise you end up with the sad shape of a Chrysler Sebring convertible and a long long roof. You want to ignore the scuttle shake, just drive it faster!

Looks like Richard may have sold his MCV...so maybe someone has already made their choice.

It's the OP, sure he'll be along to say so soon.

Wow no secrets on here is there :)

Yes after much deliberation I decided to take the plunge and have put a deposit down on the MCV. I am the soon to be owner of model number 17. A long drive back to London gave me a lot of time to get excited about returning on the train to Chester on Sunday to pick it up. I'm hoping that after 4 hours in the seats I will still be able to walk on Monday
To be honest what swung is that Dicky offered to buy it back a a great premium next year if I didn't like it ...

To get me started it would be great to get some advice please

Insurance - any tips where to go for 2nd car cover limited mileage? I have one from Dicky but may need a few more
Cover - no space in the garage so I need an outside cover. Any recommendations?
Stereo - may consider upgrading the stereo to give me bluetooth and sat nav. Any suggestions of equipment and fitter in the SE?

Many thanks for any help and I look forward to being on here a lot more in the future

I have an Alpine flip up screen with all that and TV/DVD/ USB and Ipod connectivity. ..works great and far better than the Becker unit. Remember to by-pass the factory amp as any high power unit will blow its circits. Mine was fitted in a place just outside Croydon. ..let me know if you want any further details.

Excellent news!
www.1answer.co.uk insurance have just renewed my cover, great for limited mileage and no NCB required too!
Not garaged!!! whatever is in the garage, kick it out!
Loads of stereo options. I've had a couple of Blaupunkt NAV56E single DIN units in the past, and still have one in my Stag, great sat nav and bluetooth/phone options, but obsolete now...cheap second hand though.

Congratulations Hilts. I don't think you'll regret it. I'm up that neck of the woods on Sunday with Benny and the SCD guys. If I see a black MCV heading south driven by a guy with a grin from ear to ear, I'll know who it is! :D

That will be me, I'll look out for you but may be too busy trying to work the gears!

You should survive the trip back on Sunday ;-)

I drove mine back from Chester to the South Coast earlier in the summer with no ill effects!

I'm really enjoying mine, For what the car offers in terms of performance, noise and enjoyment I've had nothing that beats it yet.

I'd be interested in any comments on a replacement stereo too. I've found mine so usable that it does the commute twice a week and the odd business trip too. Bluetooth therefore would be useful but I haven't had the time to research yet.

Anyone want to suggest how much time it will stay in sport mode??

Paul
Ps. Mine is insured with Admiral under a multicar policy - sensible premium with zero no claims. I know some aren't comfortable with Admiral but from my experience they've been absolutely fine to deal with on the two ocassions I've had to claim.

Thanks for the info Paul - surprised that the MCV was on their system to be honest given the number of cars sold, might give them a go as also struggling on the lack of no claims for 2nd car.
Did you buy the other black MCV sold by Dicky earlier this year? Looked really stunning with the red interior.
Looks like 3 MCV's on this thread. Anyone know how many of the other 10 or so UK cars are registered on here?
