MCV Front Splitter

Hello guys, I'm sure this has already been discussed in the past. I would be interested in purchasing a MCV front splitter but can't find anywhere. Has anyone found a source? alternatively is there any interest in a group buy if I find an original and then someone to make copies?

I’d be very surprised if any exist, as I can’t imagine the factory made a pile of spares for a known number of a limited edition vehicle. And in any crash, it’s the first thing to break, so I don’t imagine there’d be any at a breaker/dismantler. (Not that many MCV’s have been written off anyway).

I suspect you’ll have to go down the build-it-from-scratch route. Though depending on the colour of your car, maybe you’ll not need to source the blue weave carbon fibre used in the original MCV version.

There was a post pany moons ago which indicated a price from Maserati of £7k for the splitter.

There is a guy who ordered a carbonfiber seat backs in China made by molding the original back for his gransport.
The result is pretty convincing :
I wonder if he didn't post here too a few months ago?

He will ask if it's possible to make the front splitter. I'm interested, as a back up, you never know, and some from maseratilife too.
In fact, I imagine that if someone make a batch of these for a reasonable price, it should be sold out very quickly, as a MCV owner, having a spare is a must.

I will let you know if there is any development.

If you need an original one to measure/copy, “Hashluck” stores his MCV near Newbury and might be willing to help. No harm in dropping him a PM on here.

No, the bumper is one piece on the early 4200s.

Ah it replaces the lower lip entirely?

Im not a fan of the updated front bumper but I agree with those that suggest the car needs some more front areo when driving over 90mph... On the unrestricted German Autobahns of course :D

I'll be keeping my classic front end and pedestrian crippling metal grille that is apparently worth more than the car lol

Not sure if the MCV splitter actually does anything beyond looking nice and scrape in multi story car parks

One more. I think the cost of the splitter, if it can be sourced, is about 10% of the value of the car in case anyone wants to take that route to obtaining one :)

This was most recently discussed in January 2020. Loz and I agreed to pick it up once we were allowed to move freely again, which obviously hasn't happened yet.

If someone else wants to do this before we do then I am more than happy for my MCV to be used as the template if that helps.

Otherwise assuming Loz is still up for it it will be something we pick up when things are a bit more normal. Here is the thread where this was last discussed.

One issue with the MCV spoiler is that its in the blue carbon weave, so those with the carbon rear lip spoiler will not be matching. I doubt it would be very noticeable but still.

I think the best plan would be too have some made with the blue weave as spares for those of us with a MCV and to also have some made without the blue weave for anyone else who wants to match the more 'normal' carbon on their car.

Yes. The blue weave carbon was the same on every MCV, irrespective of the colour the car was painted.
