Just as the weather turns to freezing I am heading up to Richmond North York’s tomorrow on business and have decided to leave the oil burning XJ on the drive and take the climate changing GTS!.
Will stay overnight and take run over the Moors to Whitby for lunch, crossing back over the Moors again as I head South.
Hopefully I won’t see snow !!

It has indeed snowed on the moors around Whitby.
Not a heavy amount but it has been icy cold too, so what were once rain puddles are now ice just what you want in your GTS. Take care mate

No winter tyres but Saturday looks ok and if need be I can chicken out of the top of the Moors - I’ll see what the locals say on the day.

It will be good to give the car a decent run 450 - 500 mile round trip -

It’s clear blue sky’s up here today, cloud tomorrow but no snow forecast- so as long as I am sensible on the twisty bits I should be fine.

In the end I headed into the Dales rather than heading over to Whitby.

Weather started off ok but closed in from time to time

Glass of wine in front of the fire for me.
Car was properly filthy when I got home after a total 630 miles in wet gritted roads -

I drove the QP in Dublin last year in the snow and it was as solid as a rock, unlike the Cadillac CTS (3.6 Auto) I had before, fishtailed all the time even with traction control. One time I had an IBM POWERPC workstation in the boot, Intellistation 285, the last great Unix workstation, new old stock, upset the back end no end, had to totally fight it on Blackrod Bypass (Bolton) was whipping one way then the next. The other two passengers literally shaat themselves! Well, not literally, figuratively.....

Never had any 'moments' in the QP. Yet.....

There's a rather excellent road/area we use for photoshoots fairly regularly around there. Hutton-le-Hole to Castleton if you know it. Nice pub/hotel half way along, too. Big car park for meets too.
Just watch out for the sheep.

Yep, I recognise those roads, ssshhh though, we don’t want them all up here.....do we?
No, though I’m thinking of organising a mid-week ‘******** to the office’ mid-winter tour for a couple of chaps I know who are considering selling their Lancia Delta Integrales. I think a trip up the Ridge and to the seaside might change their minds.

May even open it up to other owners of Italian winter ornaments, if anyone on here needs reminding as to why they love their cars?

One of my go to drives if I fancy quick blast. Its only 30 minutes away and a quick up and over then back via Rosedale Abbey. Doesn't matter which car its in either. Just need to watch out for the sheep!
