MM NIT retrofit

Hi all,

Long time lurker here and fresh owner of a 2010 QP Sport GTS. Amazing car, but realised that the MY2010 Bose NIT is useless and there is no straightforward modding path for it to upgrade it.
I am looking to find out if the Magneti Marelli NIT can be retrofitted to cars with the Bose NIT. After digging through forums and the "advanced electronics" maserati documentation I don't have a definitive answer. Does anyone here know?

Thanks,
Alex.

Do you mean useless as in inoperable, defunct, cease to work, and ex NIT? Or, it's just pants? With the 2010 NIT , I think you can do the overlay upgrade.

The only NIT that can't be upgraded as far as I know is the original Bose from 2003 - 2007 since the screen connections are internal to the NIT. (So I have been told)

The original MY2010 Bose NIT is fully functional. However, the functions serve zero purpose to my needs. Particularly since I live in a region for which it doesn't have any map data so I am staring at a screen that is 3/4 blank.
Thanks for chiming in on the upgrade path. My understanding after reading the dedicated SM Carplay threads is that neither BOSE NIT support the overlay upgrade:

I stand corrected then. You might want to reach out to Robin Elliot, who's on maseratilife who has a replacement NIT options including one that could replace my 2007 Bose NIT with an complete Android tesla like replacement.

(or just get a loudlink for blue tooth connectivity, and a decent TomTom!)

Had same issue with mine but sat nav maps were lost. I installed a second screen running carplay that sat above existing. Useable and removable for sale etc.
