It doesn't work very well if you have a cherished number that's been transferred between the same make of car. I did a search on our Alfa and it brought up both the current and previous Alfa that had the same number.

My car failed its MOT 3 times for incorrectly spaced number plates! You'd think the previous owner would have learned.

It's useful to know about the advisories if you're looking for a car , one qp I checked had a fail 2 years running for a passenger door that wouldn't open and a few have been sent for mot with bald tyres

Who takes a car for mot without checking the basics, lights, tyres, wiper blades and squirters

I checked my old 156 2.5 v6 which I had for 13 years; very depressing reading when you read the number of fails and advisories. In fairness I used to drop it in unprepared / pre service to get a shopping list of work needed in addition to the service but it wasn't the most reliable, a mantle my 159 has (unfortunately) proudly picked up and carried on with vigour............

I think the new MOT Checker is great, you can see a cars past clearly and up front. The more info you have good or bad can only be positive

That just advisory , as long as they're legal it's a pass, a number of cars I've checked have Fail, tyre below the legal limit

Why even bother taking it , unless it's garages that service and MOT it at the same time to get a set of tyres out of the job as well

Small point too is that any work carried out between services or MOT may not be captured in the history
Or am i reading it wrong?
