Need your help with Grancabrio problem...suspension, sports exhaust.

Hi guys! I sold my 08 GT and just bought a 10' Grancabrio with 7k.

I removed the vacuum pipes and without blocking them with a golf tee I then started the car up to see how it sounded. Obviously the valves were open and sounded amazing however I got a suspension warbing symbol come up on the dash. I then switched the ignition off and reconnected it. The light went out but when I drove the car i felt the suspension itself was stuck in sport mode, very bumpy.

I then unplugged the pipes again and wedged a golf tee on each one. Now the suspension light is back on. Car is still very bumpy like its in sport mode.

Is this all linked? Is it due to the vacuum? I thought it throws off a check engine light and not a suspension failure?

Your help is greatly needed!

By the way it doesn't crackle as much as my 4.2 did with a gts exhaust!!

Strange. At the end of of the day you are trying a cheap mod on an expensive car. Why not have the FD module fitted to control the valves?

Why would you want to fiddle with it like that..?? Can't you just open the valves with the switch and have the car working normally..??

That's what I do, my car is 100% stock as the Americans say. Just trying to give the OP an option.

Turns out that the front left suspension solenoid is faulty according to the SD3. Seems unrelated to pulling vacuum off.

I took the vacuum off because its the quickest way around it. I am going to order the FD valve contro thoughl. Is it hard to fit yourself or do you recommend any garage to do it. The main dealer wont do it for me.

At present i have the vacuums bunged with golf tees and the valves of the exhaust are always open. With sport mode they only open up after 3000 rpm! In London traffic it can be hard to get up to that RPM with all the traffic.

Bear in mind if you have a Maserati warranty that they might get funny about you fitting the kit if you have problems with cats/exhaust manifolds etc. I know it makes no sense but it's a great excuse.
