I went to a "launch" event of the 296 GTB at JCT on Saturday (nice event with an orchestra, DJ, light show, food and drink).

In the flesh the car looks very sleek, with not too much in the way of fussy holes, vents and spoilers. Despite this it develops 350kg of downforce (at 250kph) which I thought was impressive.

Overall I liked it. Inside was much like the Roma (and SF90) in that its all gone digital. They kept bleating on about how good it sounded but when I asked they said they couldnt start it :(

Any amount of downforce on a road car is impressive, in fact any amount of lift reduction is a bonus!

It was a shame that they couldn't start it. I was told to make sure my foot wasn't on the brake pedal when he turned it on. They had some demo mode software running on the car so that you could see what the display would look like when driving. I guess that's their reason for not wanting to start it but it was a shame.

Hopefully there will be a Ferrari "Experience Day" early in the new year when we will be able to get a test drive.

I liked it. It even looked to be similar in terms of load space to the Cali for road trips. I will need to do some serious saving to be able to afford one, but it is tempting.
