They just aren't selling. Look on Pistonheads now for MY18 GTS cars as an example. There are around 45 physical cars in the network unsold and when they are gone they are gone.

Yes but 0% costs them to do so you'd likely still be better to buy normally and negotiate the best discount that you can off a new stock car. I saw Parks Maserati selling brand new, pre-reg diesel Ghiblis at £39,999 which is a serious discount. If you can get that with 0%, then you're onto a mega result.

Whats the reason? Are them dumping stock for new coming models or just down on sales?

Less people want a £50k+ diesel these days as momentum has shifted against them. Maserati, Porsche etc are dropping diesel entirely from now so that cheapens the cars they have already built. Of course, Maserati has not extended the range except for the Levante so they also have to contest with a market attitude of these not being new models etc as well. Add it all together and demand is down so they are forced to use price as an incentive. To be fair, they are all at this right now with offers from all the German brands etc so it's just what's happening out there right now during Brexit and the like.

I'd have a new diesel. If you spec one up now (Gransport trim with a few options) its around £64k. And thats not extravagantly specced, met paint, tinted glass, heated seats, heated mirrors, carbon trim on top of the Gransport pack. If I could get that for a hefty discount Id be interested

Talking of German new car deals- my DD is arriving today. Ludicrous deal in my opinion. Highly specced 140i shadow edition - VAT removed then an extra 5,000 dealer contribution and 1.9% ApR if I needed to take out finance. That’s around 10k off list price then free money. They said they were a coupe of cars off being the top selling dealership in the U.K so needed to shift in sept. I added 2.5k of M performance Kit including the LED alcantara wheel, side skirts and interior carbon / alcantara M performance trim, and ended up with a unique car that cost me less than an entry level 118D I was offered at my local dealers. The word nuts comes to mind. These offers must be killing the used ca mdker for those in the no. It just didn’t make sense to buy one.

A friend looked at a Merc GT AMG last week. High spec with a list price of £136k. He was offered it for £105k and finance at 1.5% flat rate.

Not bad for a breadvan.
I wanted something that was fun to drive (0-60 of 3.6 with a JB4 remap) and fit my daughter in on the school run. I decided I wanted a lower profile on school and work runs so this fit the bill perfectly. Just waiting for the hovis decals, they will certainly hear the bread coming

Welcome to M140i ownership!
Depending on build date, post July I think, they have petrol particulate filters fitted in the exhaust for the latest emissions regs so not as straight forward regarding engine tuning and changing exhausts etc.
Personally I think the stock power is more than edequate, it's the chassis that is limiting on them. Loads of chassis options available but at the end of the day, mine is also my daily driver so don't want to get carried away modifying it!

They're surprisingly 'cheap' now on the used market. Mid-70s. I kept looking at them when I was in the market at the start of the year, but couldn't decide if they're really attractive or pig ugly. In the end I decided brutish, and plumped for a Vantage.

As Iain commented, if you're taking finance then 1.5% on a new car must be kicking the ar5e out of the used market other than for people who care about total depreciation and total cost of ownership.

Will your friend go for it, Ewan?

I also like the Merc GT however I can't help but think it will continue to plummet in value, especially when those type of deals exist. Could be a £30k bargain in 3 years from now easily.

Yes, agreed. When I was sniffing around them they were closer to £90/100k from memory. Still, it's good to see a few out there with decent miles on. They clearly get used.

There is a gorgeous bright green one near me. I think it used to be the local Merc Dealers demonstrator. It sounds like thunder and left me for dead in the GT.
I'd have one in a heartbeat.
Looked like this.

Aren't there about three different variants of it? Sporty, a bit more sporty and really quiet bone-shakingly sporty. With quite a price jump between them all as well.

As Athol said, as a £30k daily in a few years one would be an absolute hoot.

agree with you both. I think I would still go for a strad over them though.

They are great looking and I would have one if it was given to me.
I just cant get my head around paying similar money for a Merc or Audi than I would for a Ferrari or Aston (And more than a Maserati!) No matter how much bodykit they put on it. It my problem as they are probably fantastic cars..
