Welcome to M140i ownership!
Depending on build date, post July I think, they have petrol particulate filters fitted in the exhaust for the latest emissions regs so not as straight forward regarding engine tuning and changing exhausts etc.
Personally I think the stock power is more than edequate, it's the chassis that is limiting on them. Loads of chassis options available but at the end of the day, mine is also my daily driver so don't want to get carried away modifying it!
Do you like it? I agree when I have it I probably won't mess with the Engine / Exhaust etc and just use it to knock about in.

Aren't there about three different variants of it? Sporty, a bit more sporty and really quiet bone-shakingly sporty. With quite a price jump between them all as well.

As Athol said, as a £30k daily in a few years one would be an absolute hoot.

I think there is a GT, a GT-R and a Convertible version of both. Although could be wrong. The engine is the same as in the new Astons.

They are great looking and I would have one if it was given to me.
I just cant get my head around paying similar money for a Merc or Audi than I would for a Ferrari or Aston (And more than a Maserati!) No matter how much bodykit they put on it. It my problem as they are probably fantastic cars..

Same engine as the new Astons though. Get your point though.

I think along the same lines for McLaren. Why buy one of them when you can get a Ferrari.
Again they're probably brilliant, but just wouldn't (couldn't) do it.

There is a gorgeous bright green one near me. I think it used to be the local Merc Dealers demonstrator. It sounds like thunder and left me for dead in the GT.
I'd have one in a heartbeat.
Looked like this.

It certainly should have left you for dead, that’s the AMG GTR which is a whole different ballgame to the AMG GT or GTS.
All great cars and was definitely (GTS) a consideration when I was buying the Stradale but still really glad I went the Masser route.
M.
p.s. Been in Dublin for 24 hrs, didn’t see a single Masser, just one FF.

Agree. As long as they are priced near a ferrari its a no can do for me. Thats before considering Residuals. Once you get over 100k , for me , it has to be a Ferrari. You can just plan so much better financially.

Yes i do, bought it 6 months ago, manual 3 door.
Bought it as the last opportunity to have a big engine, manual gearbox, rear wheel drive car as a daily driver.
Done 12K miles in the last 6 months so I do use it.
Thought the suspension was quite bouncy at first, and I guess it still is but you get used to it. Mines passive not the optional adaptive. There are suspension options available but reluctant to spend £K's on it.
I don't know if you have pro or business nav, but either way the sat nav routing is pretty pants even with the live traffic info.
Make sure you sign up to the BMW connected drive, it is good so you can send destinations from your pc/smartphone to the car, remotely lock/unlock the car, turn on the ventilation, find your car etc.
If you are considering winter tyres, Toyo now do a set in the same sizes..the pilot supersports are not winter tyres for sure.
If you haven't got enhanced Bluetooth, it can be coded into the car independently. I did this, so I can have two phones connected at once (business and personal) and one can stream music too.
One that most owners miss, there is an additional 12v ciggie socket under the glove box just to the left of the centre console, handy for dash cam or whatever.
The performance is amazing, on paper pretty much identical to my Maser!

Brilliant thanks for the tips! I am quite excited to have a car that’s financially sensible quite low profile and yet will be fun. I got the Pro Nav as I was told it was really good- is that a lie? I really need sat nav as I am terrible in directions and I can’t stand i phones bolted to the air vents etc. How do I sign up to BMW connect? Any other tips gratefully accepted

When you park it, try to hide what model it is. A policeman mate said they are the most stolen to order/for a heist car at the moment.

Being new you get 3 years free sat nav updates, real time traffic information etc.
Remote services (so can connect to the car through your phone/PC) was an extra £60, unless they have changed it.
Pro nav is one of the best by all accounts, I don't have it, but find the standard business more than adequate for my needs. Its just the real traffic info that isn't a patch on google maps.

If you have the comfort access, turn it off, and just use the key blipper to lock/unlock.
During the day it's parked on customers car parks so no trouble, and at home on the drive.
I do however always reverse onto the drive so no one can see the twin pipes out the back, and have a CCTV looking straight at it!

Surely the Audi S3 still has that accolade? They get stolen up here all the time, so much so, that most folk know not to buy one anymore. Seems like the drug dealer car of choice, stealthy and fast.

Is that on a business estate in Kent? I think I know one there too as I picked up the mx5 from there recently.

There are quite a few business estates in Kent. The Mercedes Dealer in Ashford is on a Business Estate like most car dealers.
