After 3 years of of considering a Maserati, yesterday I took the plunge and placed a deposit on a rather nice Ghibli 3.0s in blue emozione with Sabbia interior. 24000 Miles near immaculate condition and very well optioned. Serviced up to date and 12 months belt and braces warranty with warranty wise. Only draw back it’s on a set of fairly new winter tyres so managed to shave a bit off the price to help with replacing them if I feel the need to. Looking forward to collecting it on Friday.

Get the winter tyres off soon, and save them for re-fitment next winter.

Welcome to Team Maserati!

Nice colour scheme. The ‘base’ petrol Ghibli is a bit of a sleeper and a very good all round car. What size are the wheels as they can be a bit firm on the biggest ones if you don’t have skyhook?

Someone on here will likely buy the winter tyres BTW. The good news with the petrol is the two year service interval if you do under 6k miles pa.

Hi I’m new to the forum :) Thinking of buying a second hand Ghibli - I’m conflicted re fuel. All the ones I’ve seen and liked are diesel and I’ve heard that petrol engines are better. And yet I was told by a dealer that you get more for your mileage by buying diesel. Any views? Thx in advance

Buy a Granturismo, the depreciation involved in Ghibli ownership means the fuel savings pale into insignificance ;)

Thx ! But I’m set on a Ghibli. I’ve seen one for 23k - only intending to keep it three years or so. Would the depreciation be massive?!

It depends on what age and mileage, condition, spec it is. If that’s what you’re after go for it. It was said in jest, but on a serious note they’re one of the fastest depreciating cars and a Granturismo is one of the slowest.

I’m just pleased to get a reply tbh so thank you :) It looks like a good deal 23k 20,000 miles, lux pack, 2016 one previous owner ...

Yes that is a good deal if it’s got a clean bill of health and a good history. Won’t lose a great deal on that in the foreseeable.

Welcome. A Ghibli for £23k is a lovely car and will likely drop at £3k pa plus dealer margin. Not a lot really for something so impressive. You can only lose £23k!!

Both engines are great - I’ve driven a few examples of each. Personally I would not buy diesel but 80%+ are diesel so it’s easier. Remember most dealers will just say what they need to get you to buy what they have.

Before you start to think that you will save lots of money with a Diesel, here is the fuel savings. Although said in jest, the diesel will cost you more unless you do high miles.84098

I've had two Diesel Ghibli's. A 2016 and a 2015. the 2015 was far better due to the much higher spec. A very nice car to drive and very comfortable. It's up for sale at the dealer I part exchanged it with for a Granturismo. 40k miles with a full service history for just under £19k.

I have had a Ghibl Diesel for virtually six years and I would certainly recommend the drivetrain. The car looks identical to the petrol with no badging to tell anyone what engine you have, on a long run you will get 40mpg and even around town mid to high twenties. The road tax is a fraction of the cost of the petrol, however the servicing costs are higher.
Finally whilst the engine is noisier when cold, after its up to normal temp it's probably more refined than the petrol, and when in Sport mode you hear 'an albeit' electronically generated V8 sound from the exhaust, and with 600nm of torque it has more 'shove' than the Ghibli S!
I would certainly advice going for one of the adblue '15 model year onwards as they meet Euro6 emissions requirements.

Thx - that’s good to know. I realise that servicing will be more expensive than I’m used to - could you give me a rough ball park on what to expect? Many thx

It’s on 20inch polished urano wheels the continental winter tyres. So if anybody wants a set let me know. I’ll measure the depth of tread when I get it. The ride seemed good although we have been using my wife’s SLK for the last 6 weeks since we sold my BMW 650.
