CD173378-1C34-481B-93D2-1C8EF3A44A6B.jpegHi All,
Hope this is of interest.

We’ve had a busy week as we soft launched our new venture “Five Percent Life” https://www.fivepercent.life/
at the F1, where we have a connection with Porsche driver- Dino Zamparelli (Carrera Cup GB ) who was involved in the driving- pre F1 race.

We’re a new luxury lifestyle website covering a multitude of topics (motoring, watches, gastronomy, travel etc) and offer our readers special deals, news and reviews etc.

Our Instagram FivePercentLife gives a nice little “tile picture” overview of the subjects/topics we cover. We are of course on Facebook and Twitter too.

We’ve been working on the website/social media for months (building content etc) and it’s taken us a little longer than we expected to get matters to a stage where we think the website looks right. New topics/offers are added weekly.
We have also created Apple, Android apps.....which proved rather Challenging/problematic re approval etc.

We’d appreciate any thoughts you have on the site, it’s content etc or indeed any errors that you find on it. We’ve been through it with a fine tooth comb but it’s possible we missed something,

Additionally, if any of you have a business in the areas that we cover and would like some advertising drop me a line and we’ll set up a “shopfront” for you.

Cheers Wattie

I've had a poke around and can't find anything wrong with the website, links work, content doesn't have any typos and the pictures line up.
One thing, $799 for a carbon fibre duffel bag?

Hi and thanks for looking- appreciated.
The bags are leather and real carbon fibre weave....it’s not our product but one of our “tie up” advertisers.
its an Aussie dollar price too......discount code can apply as well.
What did you think of the content?
Cheers Wattie

The home page works well on my mobile except the picture of the chap is almost completely off the screen which looks odd (I took a screenshot). Other than that it all seems to work very nicely on my phone.

All pages hang when loading. It takes sometimes 7 or 8 seconds for a page to appear when I'd expect most of it to be cached already, certainly on return visits. It's not just sometimes, it's very consistent as if it's hanging whilst hitting a tracker or advertising asset. I'm on my phone so can't tell you what seems to be causing it.

The first link I'm presented with, Find Deals / Offers, asks me to register... at that point you've lost me. You're just another site wanting to spam me and sell my details. I'm not suggesting that's what you're about but that's my instant reaction when I get to these register to see content pages and with your site it's not even a couple of clicks deep.

I'm quite cynical and there's quite a lot of "Editor's Choice" etc going on on the home page which makes me wonder if it really is the editor's choice or just something to grab my attention. It's perhaps unfair given the site's youth. I also clicked on the "Perfect Your Precious Metal..." link in related articles and it turns out it's an advert further shoring up my suspicions of a marketing site.

If I click on "Search Restaurant Reviews" there's no UK option despite there being a review of restaurants in London's sky scrapers. Also, "members" is strangely in lowercase in that list.

I like some of the articles and found myself reading them because they were interesting as opposed to just providing feedback.

I should say I am not your target audience. I don't read these sorts of websites or magazines so my views about content might be a bit harsh and skewed but hopefully some of the feedback is useful. Good luck with the launch.

I don't know where you are in the build process, but I found the cookies preferences very opaque (post GDPR I only ever select functional cookies and nothing more) and the confirm registration link email went straight to spam.

If it was not a SM member asking for feedback I would not go any further.

Again I am one of the 95% and was curious what this site would promote, but currently I would not expect it is slick enough to appeal to your target market despite me not being your target market... I assume they are much more discerning.

Had a quick shufti. Apparently I am in the target demographic (somewhat surprisingly, 5% is probably a lower income point that most assume), but that took rather a long time to find out as just about every Google search on 5 percenters came up with links to a group closely affiliated with the Nation of Islam. You may want to consider that in terms of your SEO strategy.

Have to echo the comments around needing to register to view deals. Immediately it feels that you are treating me like the product a la facebook et al.

Read a couple of the articles. Perhaps a few too many exclamation points, stylistically? So Ed Sheeran is worth £65,000,000? Does that really need three exclamation points? Same for the Richard Mille 'Evil Eye'. Also factual inaccuracies: "Fighter pilots experience around 0.1% in G-Suits" well yes, they do. So do I. In fact I experience 10 times more than that virtually all the time....

Anyway, that's opinion. I'd be interested in looking at the deals, but not in exchange for my personal details

</stroppy bugger>

Good luck!

By virtue of the fact that I never take landing on a webpage beyond leaving again quickly when Im prompted to a discount in exchange for personal data the moment I start trying to read the text, Im not your audience either...( data is personal the moment annoying, repetitive sales emails start landing in my inbox from computer generated algorithms ! )
I agree. I wont swap data for a look at the content. I understand why you want it and that Im not your target audience....
So I havent looked. What'd be the point ?

Exactly the article I (eventually) found

It's probably a bit different if you want to be one of the 5% of the most wealthy (in terms of assets) But even if you want to be one of the top 1% it's £162k ish for income or £720k assets (including property) if you want to be amongst the top 1% most wealthy.

We can't all be in the top 1%. We wouldn't fit and the maths would break.

On the basis of not wanting a carbon fibre bag perhaps I'd not be granted access anyway. "нет", the man on the door would probably tell me, in a fairly decisive sort of way.

I think it says more about how much less the other 99% earn / have (but we're drifting dangerously in socio-politico economics)

I'm going to change tack and take the **** out of the concept of you with a CF man bag :D

Does this open up the conversation on man bags in general? I have views

As do we all! However, I think that we should, at least, pretend to apologise to Wattie (and Contigo?) for the impending thread drift?

I mean, I know it's BAU but..... ;)

Dem has a man-bag. What he doesn't have is hands and pockets bulging with assorted shite, like the rest of us. I'm tempted, I have to say, But probably not a carbon fibre one. I'm more of a Tesco's carrier bag kind of a chap.

Gents thank you all for your thoughts, experience of the site and valuable feedback.
It’s a little late here in Oz and I’m off to bed soon but I’ll address each of your posts individually tomorrow am.
We’ve a lot to learn and your outlined concerns re personal details, load times etc are noted.
It was also nice to hear that some of the articles were of interest- writing style is perhaps an issue however.
Keep the comments coming and I’ll revert individually as promised.
Thanks Wattie

Fully get the logic, although the 'Dem factor' is not helping it

My father has one that fits on his belt. I, on the other hand, have a tailor :D

No seriously, I only carry a Secrid wallet and and Orbikey plus my phone. That can pretty much be distributed around any outfit without dragging the lines.

Crud, after your recent medical adventures, have you considered a cf man sack? ;)
