Thanks All,

Will try to get out and about and test drive both a CC and a Manual - problem is my location - all the £14/£15K cars around at the moment are South East or Wales,
obviously Maserati's got engine 'nose bleed' if they ventured north past Watford Gap !! ;>))

cheers

Well worth making the effort to go south and drive both. That way you'll know the best car for you. If the manual has a notchy gear change, I believe they can be adjusted. Have a word with Marios at Autoshield to see if this correct.

A-Plan competitive, and the policy I have with them track days are only an additional £20 per day.

Mine's on Admiral multicar. Is very reasonable, so far :D

Ditto, and this year the renewal has been relatively painless as well. In past years I've had to cancel and open up a new policy with them to get the best price, this year they matched their own price without having to go through that stupid process.

Have to do it nowadays...........being an insurance tart is the default position of the modern consumer..........

But it does save a shed load of money. IIRC, I saved over £400 on the house insurance. We'd been with the same company since 2000 and just renewed it, this time they went a bit OTT with the premium, bearing in mind that we haven't made a claim since 2003, so I went looking. Better cover, less excess and a massive saving.

Did something similar when we moved. Literally hundreds of pounds saved.

Hi PaulH, welcome.

On insurance I'm with Aviva through APlan in Thatcham. Seem good but I suspect I could get a better deal elsewhere. For some reason (unlike for Mike) they point-blank will not cover track days. Going through a claim at the moment and Aviva were more than happy for me to drop the car at my local MD and even said that it would be better there than anywhere else. We'll see how they get on with approving the work...

Happy hunting.

It will depend who the underwriter is, A-Plan being brokers. Don't think mine is Aviva, Royal SunAlliance I think.
