I am currently in the process of considering my next car and this one here has caught my eye -

I have not yet seen the car in person but hoping to next week .

Does anybody happen to know the car ? - it was on a Private plate S8 FSD but has reverted to original plate FJ57ATZ

I am still trawling through posts on here to get a flavour of what I should be expecting . I have no experience with Maserati having been an avid *** car fan for a lot of years but fancying a change . My current run about is a little starlet turbo - which replaced Lexus ISF .

Any assistance appreciated .

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Kev, it looks straight on top but what's the underneath like? For a start it needs an MOT. However, questions you have to ask is, what is the underside like, particualrly the subframes. I know it's had Maserati Service History but did they inspect or just change the oil?
Read this! https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/qp-gt-front-subframes-the-truth.29928/

Also variators might be an issue to with that age of engine but I'm sure a current or past QP owner will have better advice and will be along shortly.

I am in Fife - East Coast by seaside and car would be living outside - perhaps not the best combo !
The car is on West Coast of Scotland - about 2 hours drive away .

The last service should have a clutch reading taken too just so you have an idea of how worn it is.
A good inspection too will highlight most things.
Good Luck.

There is an invoice for clutch having been replaced at dealers at I think 22k miles but around 9 years ago - it is now on 33k miles but clearly hasn't been getting used much .

Maybe not lol, they don't like "not much use" so expect the odd shake down niggle. I'm not too far near Glamis, but mine (3200,) is in storage as I sort out house stuff.

Seems expensive for a pre-facelift duoselect, with the only justification being the low miles, which includes being stored for ages.

I would spend the same money on a 2009 4.7 that's done about twice the miles, but then I would say that, wouldn't I?

Or would want to be buying that one for maybe £12,000

Lovely looking 4.7 - hope you are keeping it clean ..

People on here will tell you that I normally get the prize for dirtiest car at any meet. But the sparkly blue does justify a bit of cleaning now and again.

It is looking even better now with the GT S grille and red callipers (and a nicer steering wheel).

On reflection, sorry for pouring cold water on the car you mentioned, but it is worth looking around for the right car at the right price.

The 2007/8 GT Sport is the pick of the duo-select cars, and this is a low mileage example in a good colour-way. But no QP is an easy sell, so haggle hard.
Black tens to show the stone chips on the rear arches (both in front of and behind the rear wheels), so check for that and use the potential repaint expenses as a bargaining point.
And definitely have PPI.
Good luck.

Hello Kev

Welcome to the forum.

I know this car very well, it was bought by @Kincath from an elderly guy in Bothwell who had owned it for many years. He had a leg issue and in his ownership, I think he travelled less than 5k total miles. It's a nice car, has no subframe issues and a recent clutch although i think it needed to go to a specialist for a proper set-up. That might have been done. @Kincath sold it to the dealership that has it advertised. It needed a good machine polish and so on as it was just sitting around as the guy literally couldn't drive it. Send kincath (Graham) a PM.

To those that say it's expensive, note is is a proper Sport GT, low miles, low owners, full main dealer history etc. I know what the dealership paid, aim for 15-15.5k to buy it.

That's a beautiful example. Like the colour combo and as Ewan said the best and latest of the DS.

DS cars are in my view more special but less of a daily driver depending what you are looking to do with the car.

That is very helpful and much appreciated . I have dropped Graham @Kincath a message .

On a side note thanks for the all welcomes to the community - seems like a nice friendly and helpful bunch here and have already had a few laughs reading through some posts .
