Apart from the obvious looks, I can't believe the difference in weight.

So I’m ready to fit tomorrow; new pipes, new o2 sensors, new gaskets and new stainless bolts.
I’m going to fit this one first and then take the other side off and replace, just so I have a point of reference for the cables etc.
I’ve also had the Formula Dynamics DBW module reprogrammed and checked out by the guys in LA, really great bunch, so helpful.
The next question will be whether I get back on the road this year.

I have been thinking about this as preventative maintenance (SWMBO is questioning this of course) but I am concerned about the "noise" - I dont want it over loud...

Dare I ask....how much with SM/Forces/ NHS discount...lol

Get it done before there’s salt on the road, will be hard not to want to use it after putting the new cats on!

Im curious seeing these...I thought they were primary cat deletes ( & what I anticipate to be 200 cell secondaries)..?
Looking at the position of the first O2 sensor, I cant imagine how it escapes lighting a CEL.

Ok, I found them on the Larini site, how does one comply with this....

NB: Vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1992, are required to have a fully functioning catalyst fitted in order to comply with U.K. MOT test requirements. (Many other countries have similar requirements).

I think the 200 secondary cats are enough to comply with the regs as tested at MOT and in compliance with the age of the vehicle...

I’m assured that the cats on these pipes will comply with mot regs; time will tell!
If not, I would have thought Larini would state for off road use only.

Any thoughts if I should use any kind of exhaust joint compound on the rear joint?

Just for me, as I am thick, 200 sec "cats" still do have catalyst in them, car is in at the moment, I have a few more upgrades planned for service time next year so this will be on the "hidden in the shed list"

Instead of another post - DH - I did look at the other parts and they did say "off road" and on these it did say - passes all relevant tests as they are now...

The difference is that the primary cat is moved to the position of the secondary cat in the standard set up. So there are two cats instead of four.

Yes they do
But bigger holes and less restrictive = more flow and more noise.

crucially maintaining the same level of catalysis, so the exhaust is just as clean. Just rather more expensive.

Standard roughly 500 cells per sq inch vs sports 200 cells per sq inch. The 200 cell cats allow much more flow but don't have as much surface area of catalyst to clean the exhaust gases - so MOT may be a bit marginal on emissions. It's not the hardest job to add secondary 200 cell cats to the the system as a worst case MOT failure scenario. The Larini 200 cell cats do look to be a long way from the engine which would make keeping them hot a problem and in turn reduce their efficiency.

Seems plenty on here have/or have had them, it has got to be better than risking / leaving what is in there, my car may only have 13k miles but those cats have been in there for 13 years, and who knows what bumps etc they have had before.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the original system comprised of 600 cel primary's and 400 cel secondary's, so going to 200cel is a major boost to exhaust flow.

Running cooler would imply they will get dirty faster for sure....!

I’ve got Larini sports cats on and have not had any problems with MOT emissions. It makes you wonder what the f*ck Maserati were doing when they put a 400 cell and 600 cell cat on each side, when a 200 cell cat on each side does the job.
