Ok - not sure I can stay a Maser-hobo. Mental help needed!

I had the same quandary recently and sadly went XJL SuperSport.

Shame they never put the MC Shift Auto software in it as in the GT. Or even the MC Shift manual box. Both would have suited the car I'm sure.

I agree it's a shame the QPV Sport GT S wasn't offered with the MC Shift box ... however it does have the MC Auto Shift software same as the GT (and the nice big paddles, a bonus if you can find them in carbon)

Tricky one. The 4.2 QP GTS is the pretty one, certainly. But the 4.7 is quicker. I too often think about getting a 4.7 version, but always stop short because of the bloated look (especially the rear bumper/valance). Oh...and the fact that on a stylish saloon, the louder exhaust just sounds a bit after-market and out of character.

Sorry to all 4.7 QP GTS owners on here. I don’t mean to be rude. It’s only an opinion.

But my real problem with both versions is that they are auto. The only reason I eventually sold mine was because I got bored of the gearbox. And I can’t help but think that after a Strad, you’ll find a 4.2 auto QP GTS just too staid. Very pretty though, and drives and handles beautifully. Great as a daily.

What you really want is a QPV Sport-GT duo-select, from 2007, with the GTS fixed rate suspension retro-fitted, along with a transplanted 4.7 engine and a normal exhaust.

Not sure if any of that is helpful.

I suppose that Strad for me has a personality issue as it was not what it was supposed to be and I suppose yes, I was bored and diss appointed.
You’re the first one i’ve read say that about the Stradale -on the forum
Usually around here they’re out on a pedastal!

The problem with the Strad is that it’s not sure what it’s supposed to be. Is it a proper GT? No. A proper sports car? No. And even in the early 2 seat stripped out form, it’s too heavy.

But it certainly has a strong and unique appeal, offering something nothing else does. And I’ll definitely have one at some point.

I am just saying that I could not drive it “hard” as it did not have the dynamic quality I was looking for. It was/is still too heavy and is still a “big” car....

Yes it’s dynamically more capable than a car with Skyhook but I could not use it how I want my drive a car....

So I end up pootling around and that is not the intention of the character....

Everyone has their own feelings and sentiments and they are mine.

I’ve had a Gransport, Granturismo GTS, 2 Granturismo Sports and a 4-seat Strad all from new over the past 14 years and have no regrets in getting the Strad, an awesome car but I get my driving “kicks” elsewhere so looking at a QP I think more suits what I am looking for today in a Maser....

Hi Stu, you must be feeling lost without a Maser! I absolutely love the Stradale, can now understand everything you have said about the Stradale in various posts.

I was actually looking for a QPV GTS after I sold my GTS, until I saw your Stradale and just could not resist.
Maybe you could just get QPV GTS as a stop gap until Alfieri is out. This one on auto trader looks good.

I do understand what you are saying about the 4.2 GTS looks better though, but there is no substitute for the 4.7!

I hear what you're saying Stu, I had the same issue. I loved my Stradale - although it is a fast GT car and too heavy to be really direct on the road. I think you're spoiled by having the Lotus and the balanced, direct hot hatches which then make the Stradale feel the size and weight that it is.

I have no doubt (I even had a deposit down briefly) that if there was an Alfieri or another sports model that Maserati had actually launched, I would have bought that. But there isn't so for me the only choice was FF. It's the only car I have wanted, other than the Stradale, in the last 10 years. I just like the quirky madness of a 4 seater, 4wd, v12 fast back Ferrari. Brilliant!

I don't see the point in buying a stop gap Maserati while you build the new venture, especially given the other cars you have anyway. We all know there is a disaster happening in Modena right now. When customers who have been buying your brand for many years - especially new vehicles - have literally nothing to buy, this is a disaster and the folks at FCA should be ashamed of themselves.

Sounds like scene out of the Cannonball Run.

Where are the kids going to sit???

I have enough fun cars, just was looking for something for the family to go out in until a plunge for the FF...

I just don’t like driving SUV’s even if the Disco is a capable car.
