Oxidation?

I've had my Quattroporte about a month now, and I love all the attention it seems to get. And I will get round to posting some pictures.

For a 10 year old car, she's in very good condition, but I've noticed some oxidation on the door mirrors that is spoiling the look. I believe this is a common issue with the Quattroporte V. My local body shop has quoted me £343 for repainting the mirrors, and maybe I'm being a tight git but I think it's a bit over the top.

Any QP owners had similar experiences?

The 4200 suffers the same it's the British climate that does it.
If your practical it's an easy diy fix with a bit of effort and some rattle can paint they come up as new.
Did mine before shipping here.

It's just a matter of good preparation and cleanliness.
I'm not a body shop man but a automotive tech and I'm pleased with mine on a now 11 year old 92,000 mile 4200.

Not just Maserati my old M3 had this issue and my wife's X5. IS that £343 for one mirror or both.....Had the M3 done about 2 years ago at a local body shop and they charged £70 a side.....They did a great job to...this was just the mirror plate so not the mirror as well as it was only the mirror plates that were corroded.

Andyk, that was for both sides, and covered the black corner plate that forms part of the door (is that the part you called the mirror plate?), and the colour coded arm that holds the mirror itself.

Yes thats right.........OK different car but my M3 cost me £140 all in. I took the mirrors off the car and they prepared and sprayed. £343 sounds a bit much to me may well be worth getting a couple of quotes...

Just took my mirrors off to Get this done, my body shop is doing my bonnet & bumper. & said " if you take them off Ill do it for no extra charge.

Hardest part was releasing the Aluminum trim covers on the door panels ( needs removing to get the the wiring multi plug)
