Got this new code on my 2007 QP V Sport GT Auto yesterday. Additional info was “(PLAUSIBILITY)-INVALID SIGNAL”.

Does anyone know if this is one to be worried about, if it needs urgent attention and how complex the fix is likely to be?

Thanks

It’s an issue with the crankshaft position sensor - angular speed sensor in Maserati speak.

It’s at the back of the block in the vee, so it’ll be scuttle out to get to it.

Thank you very much @Zep. Would you happen to know of this is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with ASAP?

If the ECU doesn’t get a CPS signal it won’t let the engine start, so probably worth looking at sooner rather than later. If the fault returns of course.

In case anyone looking to replace the CPS, there is a video on it just recently released. Also useful for replacing the angular sensors and timing sensors!

I’ve not had the code again but if it appears again then may contemplate doing it myself!

On the recently bought Autel MaxiAP AP200 OBD2 Scanner…. got it after a check engine light.
I reckon you have scanner anxiety. I had the same when I had the Range Rover, constantly looking at the dpf soot content. In the end it destroys the enjoyment in the car as you are always paranoid that it is about to implode. Drive it, wait for a light or issue then get it repaired. And always have good breakdown cover.

Good advice, which I agree with.

However, that’s exactly what I did - ran a scan to find the error code after the CEL came on! Hence why I started this thread. Since re-setting the code, CEL hasn’t come back. I do indeed have AA.
