Does anyone know how to remove the dash around these control buttons so I can try to make them sit flush again ?

I cant say for sure in the QP as I have GT, but that wood trim below the the buttons should just 'pull' off. It has clips. It you get a trim tool or something similar behind it it will come off.
Behind that will be screws for the dash. There might even be a couple of holes you may be able to poke through to those switches.

The wood trim does not pull off it is screwed to the switch set. From memory there is a screw down the side next to the steering column. I think there are also 2 below in the fuse area. Cannot remember if the side of dash removes or not as car not here. There maybe one there. Anyway don't try a lever off the trim.

Actually I am slightly wrong. 1 by the steering wheel. 2 the other side. Screw holes at the bottom hold the trim. Looks like the switch fixing screws are loose or pulled out in yours.

Oops, I assumed it would be similar to the GT. Sorry.

For anyone else needing to remove this panel it is necessary to pull the dash cover adjacent to driver door to get to the screws. The screw between the steering column on LHS is most tricky. Using an alan key and half turn a time took a while.....

I fixed the control panel back to the facia and refitted, only for the petrol release to stop working . Wished I had left it alone now!

The part number is 209921 £240 inc VAT from eurospares so looks like I will be taking it off again and putting a new one on

Use a hex screwdriver bit and small ratchet to loosen then just the bit and your fingers.
Is the flap not operating at all ie. cannot hear it? I imagine it's a connection issue if it was working.
