My Opel Kadett 1.2 hatchback in 87 was some kind of gold too, where it wasn't rusted or filled...! It was 10 years old by then and I was the 7th proud owner!

Only Gold car we had was a 2.9 4x4 Sierra estate which other than the colour was pretty good for a Ford bit being a fast Ford I probably couldn't afford to buy one these days ;)

I still regard the TR7 as the ugliest Triumph ever made (and that includes the Acclaim) but they have a core following and are going up in value. Will never be cool to me though.
Indeed - it gets worse - its predecessor was this one - an auto. Check out the whip aerial.

At the same time, mum was way cooler with her Triumph, which I was delighted to borrow every now and then.

The (then) girlfriend's father was a Laker Airways pilot at the time and I remember him coming home having got a great deal from the BL dealer for a new TR7 in Triton Green, known thereafter as catsick..... I think the sales guy would have been given a bonus for shifting that one!
A few years later a friend converted his to an 8, which was a hoot to drive and sounded very nice.

i did restore a convertible one about 30 odd years ago for my father, good spares and panel availability in those days with rimmer brothers and nice to see rimmers still going strong to this day
