...and a ferry!
Just recently joined the forum so I thought I'd start my first thread with the journey to go & pick it up. The car was in Belfast & I am in Warwickshire.........so I had a road trip ahead of me hence the title!

Walk to the station, just over a mile then
Catch a train to Birmingham International, then
Fly to Belfast George Best, then
Short car ride to garage.
The car was in the showroom which was a nice touch I thought! Open the showroom doors then
Drive to Belfast docks to catch the ferry to Carirnryan(?) then
Some proper driving, at last!!
A75 across to Gretna to get on the M6 south......

The A75 was the main reason for wanting to drive the car back as it is a lovely flowing road that dips & weaves along the coast, with a few roundabouts to accelerate out of!

Unfortunately the weather was poor with non stop rain for most of the A75 which did dampen my spirit & progress across land. However the M6 was dry pretty much all the way home so I made some time up there.

So, first impressions?
The drive was uncomfortable after Manchester, not too easy to find a good comfortable driving postion.
The sound system is very poor with the standard Becker & speaker set up.
The wind noise really started to get to me on the M6.
No cruise, fuel computer or MFSW which I thought would have been standard.
The ventilation system was not as efficient as I thought it would be.
Soft brake pedal.

But

The car is an incredible machine that still manages to excite me
It sounds awesome
It handles really well
Excellent gear change
Attracts attention everywhere, from men & women.
Looks like nothing else on the road.
That interior........what a place to be! Leather, wood or Alcantara everywhere!!
It's quick!

Overall my first week of ownership comprised of 355 hard miles home in one day then 3 miles the next & thats it. I haven't used it since due to the cambelt being 6 years old. Driving it home was the only viable option for me & was a big risk, but now it is home I am not using it untill I change it. Don't want to tempt fate!!

Since I bought it I left it out in the rain & now the central locking doesn't work! But I have managed to open the bonnet ( the lever was broke when I bought it) & see my engine for the first time!

Jobs to do........Cambelt, plugs & oil change first, then bleed the brakes, sort the A/C out then change the stereo head unit.

I took some pictures of the (long) day.......

Breakfast on the go!
Train
Plane
Automobile
Ferry
Decent food finally!
Homeward bound!

A fantastic journey (and all the more so for the sequencing! :) ). Glad you get back home after a good run (despite the inclement weather). Enjoy the beast!

Wow!
The pictures are all in the wrong order!!!!

How the **** did I do that?

......skill and cunning! Sounds like a long day but worth it in the end. BTW, Italian cars have that effect on you; they p!ss you off with lots of little things but the big things, flair and passion, win you over. For as long as the latter outweigh the former you will be just like the rest of us, lots souls who wander aimlessly along the corridors of this forum! Welcome to the madness!

When I got the car to work I got some pictures of it.....

These are in no particular order as
A: It doesn't matter
B: I don't know how to put them in order if they did! The above post should have been as the day went.....so the pic's were in numerical order......anyone.....?

Next up will be the cambelt change/service which I'll photograph & list in running reports, wish me luck!

This is my first Maserati & I couldn't tell you what or why the plates changed.
I am waiting for a the UK log book to come through so I can put my own plate on it.

I was looking at the newer QP's when I stumbled across this one so I thought I'll try the older one before the newer one......lineage, branding & all that!

Sits very nicely on those rims too; right for the car in every way I.M.H.O.

Great choice.

Very pretty - well done. Looks spotless. Here's to many a happy day. rather like the QPIV's understated manner.
