Buy one!!
I have a 3.0 v6 now with low miles and an 02 reg, the car is amazing for the money

My fave all time car i owned was a v6 in black with tan with 36k that i sold when I bought the Maserati.

Love my current V6 and going up in value, never let me down other than wear and tear

I have to confess I'm a tiny bit mystified by the reverence for this car. Mrs C had one and I thought it wasn't exactly pretty (*especially* at the back) or well made. Felt particularly tinny getting out of my (Alfa) GT into her GTV. Never found it that fast or great handling either <shrug>

Still you all love them good on you!

Would have loved a transaxle GTV6 though :)

My silver one was pretty nippy and was really good in the bends. It held its own against GS's and 4200's at Llandow. It stuck to them in the bends and gained under breaking but lost out on the straights. Mind you mine had suspension work and was lower.

Agree, the GTV has aged better over time than other cars or its era but in everything but pure point and shoot cornering the 3.2 GT has it beaten IMO

Only car I regret selling transaxle GTV 6 with a 3.0 12V engine and 75 TS LSD Gearbox

I'd have another 156 SP2, I liked that a lot :) . With the V6 natch. The GT 3.2 for me really suffered from being nose heavy and not being able to take the power and put it down. I should have got the suspension sorted, but I guess buying a 4200 was ultimately a better bet :D

That transaxle sounds epic! :)

Shame not rear wheel drive, but can't really comment as never driven one!
Must say have always loved the style from the launch mid 90's? and don't think it has dated either.

I love the GT but was never as pretty for me against the GTV. The GT styling was a bit heavy handed.

Agree with the styling, the GT was an acquired taste but with a Q2 or Quaife diff it was very well balanced, a tad softer on turn in and certainly a better rear end on the edge - the GTV always feel nervous at the rear when close to the limit

Some really brilliant insights here. Thanks very much chaps. I'm looking to Japan again, as I did with my Ghibli. We shall see!

I drove a 3.2 GT and loved it. It was def a step forward.....Then the Brera came along and that was a stunning looking car but a step back dynamically.

Agreed the Brera was a good looker but it didn't drive like an Alfa, very nose heavy and those GM derived petrol engines just didn't have the true Alfa character.
