I subscribe to the Intercooler podcast. This week Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel are dedicating a whole episode to Maserati. Most things covered such as history, past glories and what the future might hold for the brand. I am a fan of the podcast in general and thought this week might be especially interesting for those on here.

You can find it on Spotify, iTunes etc

I listened to this on the train.

Sadly I found it was just a carbon copy of all the other 'journalist' twoddle on the brand, basically slating it for its past cars and that they have never been as good as Ferrari or Lambo'.

I learnt nothing new and anyone else listening to it would come away of the same mind-set of the typical bloke down the pub.

Possibly, but Andrew Frankel knows his onions and I appreciated the point of view, even if it didn’t always paint a great picture of the brand. As much as I love the cars I am under no illusion that there is a reason why Maserati haven’t been more successful.

Agree - it was the depressingly familiar 'they've never been much good' discussion but Andrew Frankel is well respected and has driven more Maserati and their competitors than most of us ever will so you have to respect his views. Much positivity around the MC20 but similar questions about where Maserati is going next and whether it can survive to what has been posted elsewhere.

We do tend to have rose tinted glasses round here!

To be fair, when compared to rivals such as Porsche, Maserati do produce a mixed bag of flawed cars with heaps of character. As a journalist I imagine you have to clearly state these flaws, and when compared to said Porsche, the Porsche will almost certainly win on paper.

However, if character is your bag (it is mine) I'd take a maser over the Porsche any day of the week. I drove a 996 911 before buying the 3200 and found it absolutely boring. Part of the attraction with the 3200 is that it is secretly trying to kill you when pressing on.

completely understand. At the LeMans classic as I was turning out of the campsite a series of Porsches passed. Old P, P with tea tray, newer P. Faster P. My GT sounds better than them all and looks drop dead gorgeous.

Bit out of date but I found last night that Peter Charters, General Manager of Maserati North Europe was interviewed on the Car Chat podcast back in June 2023:

One of that podcast's shorter interviews (less than half an hour), but some might find it an interesting listen. I switched off a bit once he started talking about "channels" and "markets" rather than cars, but YMMV.
