Polestar One. Will this be going on your letter to Santa this Christmas?

The Polestars seem pretty good but suffer from that same challenge with electric cars that they're a pain in the plughole to recharge unless you go home every night. Unlike Tesla.

I must be getting old as i think the latest Volvos and Polestars look good.... but until charging infrastructures are better I would rather a petrol electric hybrid than pure electric.. just takes away that electric miles worry.

I have a BMW i3 and i am amazed at how good the charging infrastructure is, and its not just Tesla, which you cant use unless you have a Tesla. OK Scotland may have got a bit ahead of the curve on this but I have driven it from out side London to the north and had no problems getting hold of superchargers.

That's good to know. The Harry Metcalfe review of the (otherwise excellent) Jaguar iPace revealed some real challenges filling the thing up with a full tank of electricity. I'm sure it'll improve.

When looking at electric cars, it’s surprising how many still don’t support the use of the fast charging infrastructure and require slow charging.
Fine for a city car, but no good otherwise.

Yeah, I agree, Todd. It would be fine if it is a city car and returned home every night to be plugged in. But for me and at 'real car' prices an electric car makes no sense unless I can drive across the country (ok, ours is smaller than yours) safe in the knowledge that I can fill it up when and where I need to. If I could do that an iPace, a Taycan or a Polestar would be worth a look. For now, they're a curious sideshow.

Electric, it's still bollox, though. Probably makes overall environment sense in the case of people doing 15k per year, but that's not me.

Polestar 2 makes loads of sense as a company car along with a Tesla Model 3 etc as there is no BIK on them this year and only 1% the following year add the fuel saving and it becomes a very good choice. That's a very good saving over the year. Tempted myself if they are on the company car list as I do 20k a year.

Agreed, Andy, the BIK advantages are more compelling than the environmental ones. Unfortunately, it's still only Tesla that doesn't suffer from a charging network that appears to be a bit crarp. I'd be tempted to get myself a Tesla as a company car if a) I needed one (you do more miles than me), and b) the tax advantages made more sense than spending, say, 40-60% of the price on an almost new petrol-powered car.

Agreed Adam, not sure I would buy one with my own money but it’s very tempting as a company car. Add the fact running costs etc are covered as well and it all adds up for me. Range isn’t an issue either as my commute is 80 miles a day no matter what depot I go to.

Range-wise, I'm sure it's fine 80% of the time. It's that time you want to make a journey longer than the range that the pre-trip planning would start to get pretty tedious.

There is that.....but we have Liz's car as well......If there is a monthly saving by taking one as a company car I think I will investigate further.

Zero BIK (for now, anyway), so if your company gives you enough to cover the costs I'd say you'd be quids in.

The Polestar does get good reviews - better to drive than the Tesla. Did you see the Carfection video?

Yes saw that and I would prefer the Polestar as to me it looks better than the Tesla........I will have a look when back in work Tuesday and see if any are on the list and then decided. Three years it feels safe as nil this year, 1% 2021/2022 and then 2% 2022/2023.
