So a car registered in or before 1980 is exempt from VED and ULEZ.

If you were regularly travelling into London, what would you buy to avoid punitive costs and give a balance of reliability (stuck in London traffic in hot temps is a recipe for overheating), usability, fun and look cool in amongst the super rich's supercars?

I recall someone buying a series III Defender for this purpose although they can be quite expensive.

A TR7 is probably neither reliable or useable, a Fiat X1/9 might be easier to live with.

Saab 95 V4? Reliant Scimitar?

Yeah but they're all **** to start/drive!

Had a bash in old Sierra, decent one, not a Cossie the 4xi or something, hated it thought had a ride as passenger in Ireland in an 85 Celica 2.8i Supra, decent. That's the one for me. Trouble is they cost a fortune nowadays!

@dickygrace some good choices there but for me the Mercedes Benz 450 SL is the one.
With the Camaro that could be Maserati ownership.
It could but he mentioned everything bar running costs. The Camaro is probably the worst option, the Yanks aren’t known for their city cars.

Already have done last week bought a XM 3.0 V6 exclusive for fun ;)
Not exactly rock ‘n roll but it will be comfy. I recall my father wanting one as they were Euro car of the year, but he made do with his 190BX.
