I have finally found my dream 4.2 v8 Granturismo in Black with Avorio. The only addition i have ordered is the 4.7L GTS back boxes which I will be fitting next week!- very excited. I see some of you have made the GTS conversion. I was thinking about the Larini but unfortunately i didnt want to risk the warranty issues so went for OEM. My questions are as follows:

1) Has anyone installed the FD keyfob for valve control on the back boxes (i live in a quiet neighborhood and dont want to wake people up)? and How easy is the fitment? Any recommendations in the london area for Maserati specialist's?

2) Where can i get hold of the rear lip spoiler for a reasonable price. I have seen them on ebay but not sure of the quality and they seem overpriced for what they are.

3) My car doesnt seem to have a USB input anywhere. It is a 2008 model. Did all of them come with USB? If so are there any conversion for IPhone compatibiltity etc??

Your advice is much appreciated!

Hi - Firstly congratulations on buying your dream Maserati. I own a GTS so cannot comment on points 1/2 but regarding point 3 - The USB is found in the glove box - There are two types (each has a slightly different picture next to the socket)...one will simply be to download into the juke box if you don't have the iPod connectivity option and the other will allow you to connect and charge iPhone although you do need a cable. There is an official Maserati connector available or you can buy one that fits BMWs and is compatible with GT/GTS from amazon for £10. Enjoy.

Welcome! Noor from Performance Italia could be a good man to talk to regarding the exhaust with the remote switch as he has it fitted on his 4.2. He also had the rear spoiler fitted. He's on here somewhere and will probably be along soon.

Darren - the iPod connector you referred to: does that let you control the iPod from the switches on the steering wheel and radio? The one I have does nothing more than keep it charged and let it play music via the auxillary source. If I want to listen to something else I need to use the controls on the iPod. Which isn't very safe, so I listen to the exhaust instead. :)

Welcome to the forum...

1) Ive got the Mini kit fitted to mine, as I already have the valves being a GTS!! (AdamN :) ). You would need the full kit, as your car doesnt have any vacuum lines, electrical lines and solenoids. Pretty easy to fit and comes with full instructions.

2) We have had a CF spoiler spoiler made for the 4.2 GTs and the GTS with a flat boot. Pure carbon fibre and autoclaved, meaning the best CF quality out there. Comes complete laquered, polished and with 3M tape. Pics here - http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/10477-Granturismo-MC-Sportline-Carbon-Spoiler

3) Ipod connnection in the Glovebox.

Feel free to give me a call and we'll do you a deal on the Valve Kit and Spoiler.

Regards

Noor

great thanks!

I can't seem to find this USB input in the glovebox. Do all the models have this or was it an option??

Ahh.. you might be right, I think it was an option, certainly on the later models. I'm pretty sure mine was. You should be able to get a full spec for your car showing all options. Worth dropping into a friendly local main-dealer and see if they're willing to oblige.

Thanks for that!

Seems that my car didnt get that option! Oh well exhaust note it better now than any of my music!

Just got my new GTS exhaust fitted. Its odd though because i have the quad black tips (Valved)- Was expecting the Oval black pipes when i ordered it through the dealer.
Anyway had them installed today at Autofficina. I am thrilled by the sound! Absolutely amazing......pops, crackles!! I have to say I was also very impressed with Autofficina's service and very reasonable prices!!

BTW i have attached a photo of my car below- this was taken earlier today before i had my exhaust fitted. I'll get some nice clean ones and a video of the exhaust sound too later!

Nice. They have fitted the GTS Auto exhaust rather than the GTS MC Shift exhaust. Depends what you ordered!

Hi - Sadly the steering wheel controls don't seem to work using the iPod connector. However, I have found buying a USB memory stick and putting files on as mp3 is a good alternative and this does allow you to change tracks via the steering wheel.

Hiwever i do agree - Window down and sports engaged is the superior soundtrack.

Beautiful! Enjoy every moment.

Techno-Luddite question: is there an easy way of getting my iTunes format music into an mp3 format with the same artist / album structure? I'm starting to feel that Apple has me by the short 'n' curlies.

Yeh that picture was before the install. I ll take some proper pics as soon as it stops bloody raining!! Haven't had a proper chance to wind the windows down and enjoy!!
I noticed there's a little drone inside around 2000rpm but it's a much needed upgrade to the standard 4.2!
