It was very red! A sort of bright, primary, cartoon red, of the sort you might see in a cheap toyshop. Nothing like the lush deep metallic red you see, for example, in Mazdas these days. (Someone else knows the correct Maserati colour names) .

Great for making a simple statement, like, "Look at me, you wonkers; I'm in my forking Maserati GT S". But too much for me.

Also the inside seemed like a very dark (fun, but dark) place to be.

Glad I had a look, but not for me.
I think Mazda call that really good deep glowing red they have 'Soul Red'. Like that even better than Rosso Magma.

QP GTS is one of my favourite cars ever, but in bright red it’s too shouty. If it were mine, I’d have to paint a yellow stripe round the grille and buy a cheap 2529 reg plate and head off to Germany to make a YouTube video tribute to Fangio’s ‘57 GP win. Then flog it at auction.

Problem is it you want a QP GTS you have to like black or grey other wise you will have to buy a different marque. Buyers of new Maserati’s were very boring when choosing a colour. So many lovely colours to chose from. Maserati may have well not offered them. A real breath of fresh air this red one.

I still have hope of rescuing and restoring the infamous blue ‘knobby’...

Funny thing colour. My mark1 Ford Mondeo estate was bright red (and latterly with the obligatory silver duck tape holding the bumpers together) and no one would give it a second glance. All sorts of little hatchbacks are now in exciting colours and again no one thinks "shouty" about them either. However put a vibrant colour on a premium car and it screams "show off". You can have a nice frock in a dull colour or a dull frock in a nice colour. Nice frocks in nice colours don't seem to be sociallly acceptable. So kudos to those that actually stick their necks out and spec banana paint, green calipers and orange leather.....:)

or nice blues / greens and cream... with red calipers of course.
