Thanks Conaero. Will get it done at some point and will report back.

Fingers crossed, she’s covered around 8k per annum mostly in spring and summer in my 5 years and she’s a 2009, and she’s been garaged all the time in my ownership so will be interesting to see the state of play

I am interested too - will do a little research. 2 minute google shows MC Stradale parts similar in price to skyhook shock. Would need to can-converter to stop the errors.

Yeah, it’s scaring the sh*t out of me!

Might need to come down to you for the work later in the year.. Have you got a car I can borrow so I can carry on down to Portsmouth for a day or two-whilst you’ve got it :D
A nice little Renault 14 I believe.

Thought I'd update the status of my car, managed to get pictures of the underneath.. Dinitrol was used.... it stinks!!!

Really happy, looks new. Only minor surface rust, no holes, nothing to worry.. phew. Great to have that peace of mind.

Whilst it was off the road, I managed to get the wheel arch liners off and give them a good soak and dye back to being black.. one of my pet hates. I also replaced the front headlight holders, coated them with fertan myself and had them fitted.

I used JR classics in Doncaster, I couldn't recommend Joe more, I'm going to take my truck there later this year.

I have searched the forums but can't find the answer, so please can someone tell me if this subframe etc rot problem exists in QP VI or is it only QP V that have it ? Many thanks.

I’ve not seen any reports on the QP VI, but then I am not sure that many on here have one. If it isn’t in the QPVI section, then no one has reported it.

Given the first QP6's left the production line 7 years ago, perhaps the first signs of subframe corrosion will be starting to show - if they're indeed made with a similar composition of Italian good-will, hopes and dreams that have gone into our hard-wearing QP5 subframes. cough

I will be leaving my GTS for the whole Dinitrol works soon in Ireland by the only approved centre here.

Couple of questions apart from wheels and arch liners what else needs to come off the car to access all subframes and other structural parts? Are liners handy to put back into place?

I’ll be asking for the brakes and suspension to be covered too but is there anything else?

Chris, if you need to weld the front top upper wishbone mounts, the wishbone has to come off, or usually cut out the bolts and its a long and painful job if they get stuck and just spin.

Using heat helps.

Happy to report that my old Renault 4's underside is as new.
Just given her a Winter Service and put some old engine oil all over the underside just like we used too back in the Good old days.

Just done exactly the same to my year 2000 RAV4. Do it every year after changing the oil. Like new underneath. Thought I was the only one that did that

Those of us that are in the know.
When I started out as a boy in the Garage Trade my father's Garage had a bespoke pit for spraying the underside of cars.

That’s why land rovers leak so much oil - it’s actually a design feature.

I had to look up what a Renault 4 is... I thought it just started with the 5, then the Clio etc...

The 4 is actually for 4CV. The old French tax classes based on horsepower as in 4CV or 2CV,

it was loosely based on capacity not power much like the British system

I think there was a smaller engined one called a Renault 3 at one point.

2CV I have heard of (and been for a ride in!)... every day is a school day.

Collected my Strad from SportsItalia this afternoon fully protected. There was even a 2020 GTS in for the same work. Hopefully there will still be enough around for the next generation as a result!
Great service from Ash and Matt.
Thanks.
