I am contemplating buying a used front subframe to re-furbish for future use. Does anyone know if all M139 QP's use the same part number and if so, what is it?
Thanks
Neil M.
I have a 2007 QP Executive GT. Do you know which one I would need and when was the changepoint, if known? There are different versions, I think early auto’s are different, so it depends on the model and year.
I truly appreciate the help. I will certainly do more research but this helps me immensely. I just want to keep this car on the road or for as long as I can. I love the thing, warts and all.
Indeed. The problem is that mine is already almost 15 years old so I’m anticipating issues. I’ll be getting her on the lift later this week to see where things stand and to find out how many rubber bushes are worn out.Get it underbody corrosion treated every 5 years and you won’t need to worry about the subframes.

From the MOT manual put up on a testers forum I'm on concerning welding of subframes.

These days you have to say Other brands are available.Including a hole (in a structural area) that was patched with a cornflake box and duct tape and covered in waxoyl

Hobnob packets are much more structural. They can take multiple dunkings and still stand up.Given the serious nature of this, do you know why the MOT test rules were changed to prevent testers from prodding metal work?
And how an assessment of the above can be made if the area is plastered in waxoyl?
I have seen horrific bodges on cars I have bought with recent MOTs - including a hole (in a structural area) that was patched with a cornflake box and duct tape and covered in waxoyl
Just had a read through this extremely useful and important thread (especially for newbies like me!). Had a quick peak under my GT and overall the subframe looks good but in places there is a little bit of rust that’s starting to form! I’m based near Farnham Common (west of London), any recommendations on who I can go to to get the subframe treated? (ideally locally but can go further afield if needs be)
Thanks!
