QP Service requirements

Hi all,

Well, it’s almost 2 years since I bought the beautiful Contessa, and she is due for a major service in about 4 weeks. Looking at the handbook, apart from the usual brake fluid, coolant replacement etc, there are items that need to be replaced more regularly than I imagined.

For example, carbon filter and Lambda sensors every 4 years. Do you all do this? I’m sure it’s not cheap! Is it necessary to replace gearbox oil once a year, especially if you only do 4K miles?

Steering fluid every two years? (No idea when it was last done!)

Two years on, and I still look forward to every journey in her ;) Have a great Sunday folks!!

Many people omit the carbon canister and lambda sensors, but I would certainly do everything else. Fluids are cheap, after all.

Thanks Ewan. Agreed, but surely synthetic gearbox oil shouldn’t need replacing after 4,000 miles. Still, better safe than sorry :)

I'm in the same quandary with the GS... only done 850 miles since last service and now due a annual.

I can't see the point of changing synthetic oil after 800 miles and 12 months. Doesn't need doing and kind of irresponsible for the environment really.

Better off changing brake fluid or gearbox oil instead if not been done for a couple of years. Or spending that money on something else

Really depends if you want a car with “full service history” or not.
