QPV with Bovee 1000 and Amazon Echo Auto

I've bought a Bovee 1000 to convert my iPod cable to a Bluetooth signal. And I've also bought an Amazon Echo Auto so I can use voice commands in my car rather than using the clunky Bose system (Echo Auto plays audio over bluetooth or 3.5mm) or fumble around on my phone.

It works quite well, with a couple of niggles that I'm wondering if anyone can help:

- is Bovee still the go-to Bluetooth transmitter for QPV? I read that whilst a transmitter, it also acts as an iPod emulator (for those that use iPods). But it does have a flaw....
- although the Bovee pairs automatically with my phone via Bluetooth, the Bose unit does NOT detect it as an iPod unless I unplug/plug it in each time? Only then does the iPod icon appear. I wondered if there's any way around this? To trigger an iPod detection without unplugging?
- I tried powering the Amazon Echo Auto using the cigarette lighter but, it just didn't power up? The socket in the boot didn't either? So I pressed a cigarette lighter in and it DID heat up so must be live? Anyone know why this could be? The Echo Auto works fine in another (more modern) car so it isn't the Echo unit. (I'm using the front USB instead for power, so this is more of a niggle as mentioned.)

Thanks!

If you cant find an alternative way round the bose pairing issue you could use one of those usb cables with a switch built into the cable. At least then you can have the switch routed near to you rather than having to reach over into the glove box.

What connector is the Echo using, and what have you got for a lighter adapter? There are some odd instances where USB devices don't have the correct signalling, so the power never gets turned on. It can be massively annoying

Sorry folks, I've not received any notifications for these responses. But i do have an update!

I've returned the Bovee 1000 and bought a INVERY Airdual instead. I can confirm that it works much better! Not only does my Bose head unit (2009 QPV) detect it automatically as an iPod, but it also shows the song titles when I use my Amazon Echo Auto too (which I didn't expect tbh)! I've not properly put it through its paces yet (only tested it stationary on the driveway for 5 minutes) but it's really encouraging! I've not tested any steering wheel functionality yet either, mainly because i plan to just say "Alexa, play xxxx" or "Alexa, next track" etc.

"What connector is the Echo using, and what have you got for a lighter adapter?" - The echo is powered by USB. At the moment I've plugged it into the one on the front of the Bose head unit because when i plugged it into the cigarette adapter (which looks like this) it simply doesn't get power? It's not a showstopper to be honest, but I suspect this is one of those odd instances!

PS - i did look at Loudlink but I don't have a CD changer. And I'm sure i read that it's a head unit out jobby if this is the case, which I wanted to avoid!

I thought the USB on the Bose was for updates or something. I never got that to work or power anything.

No, I've played MP3 music from the USB port too. And it stored it on the hard drive....

USB B should be hot all the time. All I can suggest is that the adapter isn't a great fit in the lighter socket. Seen this many times, especially if the nose spring is a little stiff.

You seem to be sorted, though :)

Useful update! Wish I'd known that before I got the bovee, never mind. Can't really justify another £80 just to save fiddling every now and again
