Am I not the only one thinking this is a futile topic in modern times? I love my cars but outright speed and numbers mean little to nothing to me now.

You are right and my car is plenty fast enough for me. Trouble is a lot of people buy on bragging rights and Maserati needs to up its game to sell to these people.

So I had a tune done on my v8TT gts a couple of days ago. Probably equiv to stage 1. Big issue over here in Dubai are ambient Temps, couple that to dyno runs and it's actually pretty hard to get a run to create standard power before the ecu temperature calibrations kick in and reduce boost. On one run IATs were in the 70°c region. Not difficult when ambient is 45°c with 52% humidity. Boost pressures were increased by 0.4bar midrange and 0.2bar at peak. Speaking to the tech is seems the turbos are the limiting factor here as they are quite small and right at the peak of their efficiency map. To anyone that can read a compressor efficiency map, more heat is a direct result of pushing any further.
A larger front mount would be the answer but as stated I'm not really chasing numbers. I will post the dyno graphs when I get them

Nice you got the stage 1 tune to 610hp and 800nm torque. This is something I want to do to mine being RWD. How’s the beast now? Is it hard to test the performance because of the temps in UAE, better chance at night? Does it fall much?

If I'm honest it doesn't really feel any different. I think that's more to do with Temps and me not giving it the beans yet. 1st run on dyno as standard netted 510bhp at fly (estimated) second run 483bhp. On the seventh (non consecutive) run of the day on revision 4 of the tune it netted 525bhp. Make of that as you will! Temps do drop but not by as much as you'd think. It's still 36° at 8pm. I have no idea how much power has been gained but I'd have thought only around 40-50bhp at peak. Torque increase 100nm at peak.

36° C is still really hot, so the performance of the car is probably still affected after the tune. You need to get a good run in if the temps drops to 25° C, I think thats UAE's winter daytime temps.

it does feel stronger on overboost than it did. Yes UAE winter feels a looong way off. 43C with 50% humidity today. And a case of Delhi belly to go with it

So the kerb weight of the QP6 GTS is 1900kg about 100kg lighter than a current gen bmw m5. So when winter comes in UAE it should pull very fast with the new tune. I'll go for the tune too after my service.

I am leaning towards the Novitec tune which would be stage 1 equivalent. So should be similar to yours. I think alot of those carbon parts eg carbon splitter and carbon diffuser you have on your car could be from Novitec.
I actually asked the dealer where I bought the car to contact previous owner as to where the carbon parts come from. Apparently they were straight from Maserati when the car was new in 2015. I haven't been able to find any evidence of that however.
Can anyone else shed any light?

So I know Novitec offers this kit some subtle carbon parts as part of this Aerodynamic package https://www.novitecgroup.com/en/brands/maserati/quattroporte/#aerodynamic

But not sure I think from Maserati you could only get carbon fibre mirror caps and door handles & nothing else. I would say yours are aftermarket carbon parts not sure if they are Novitec because Novitec's look different seeing the video above.

I bought mine because I’d never driven a car that made me feel as special. I’d never driven a car that as good as it was, got under my skin like my Maserati...for all its flaws.
I’d never driven a car that sounded like all the cars i’d Ever dreamt of, in a form that was as beautiful.
That car to me was the Granturismo, and by the way I’d happily say the QP v too.
Shame the new stuff doesn’t tempt us old uns.

I've learnt that what's offered in UAE is normally totally different to what's on offer elsewhere. Previous owner may have asked Maserati Dubai to customize, happens a lot here.

Respect what you're saying but Maserati have to attract new blood to the brand. They are priced alongside high spec M cars, AMGs, Porsches. If the spec sheets are miles off then the Maserati probably 9 times out of ten won't even get a test drive. I love the Granturismo, beautiful soulful. But I'm an absolute sucker for the primordial thrust of a powerful turbo engine.
Horses for courses. We all own because we love the brand and history.

I don't think theres anything lacking stock but for a few k you can get the power from 530hp/ 710torque to 605hp/820nm torque because this is a twin turbo v8. So seems worth it for the low cost to improve performance.
