These hotel booking engines on the Internet. Booking a hotel in Manchester for my niece's birthday (a three line whip event!) £109 on bookingdotcom, same on Expedia. Add £10 each for breakfast.. Ridiculous. Went to the hotel chain's website using duckduckgo £63, with breakfast and free cancellation.

A win for zero history and direct service.

In order solve our transport problems now the military no longer allow us to travel in the back of a truck or Land Rover we now use ‘White Fleet’
In essence, a lease hired vehicle at an extortionate rate form a firm such as Lex Fleet.
Only the ‘Old and Bold’ currently have the D type licence to drive these as they come with 17 seats. However.
Ford have made the Maximum Gross weight the equivalent of a 75kg person
Looking at the 12 lads, with 10kg daysack and a 3kg weapon system not one of them is under 90kg!
I now need another minibus and driver!

Worse still, the answer we thought was Combi Vans - 9 seats, a baggage area and drive on a car licence - Winner!

No!!!!! Weight limit here would be 5 or 6 persons!!!!! So to move the same number of troops I will need 3 vehicles.

More research and the answer is!!

Nissan Pajeros - 4 seats, room for the kit and 4wheel drive.
Down side is they are expensive to hire!!

Oh well.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: DRINK DRIVERS :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

On my way home I passed two chaps pulled up over the dual carriageway verge over the cycle path and changing a wheel on one of their cars. As I couldn't ride paste, I had to dismount and go around them on the mud and as I was clambering past I smelt them honking of booze. One of them wanted to start on me but the other guy held him back. I cycled until I was out of sight and called the police. I hope they didn't get to return to the road.

Good man for having moral conviction - use a different route home for a while....

I recently had one of those traffic cop shows on whilst cooking and remembered the police saying that a substantial proportion of drink-drivers are caught due to public reporting them. That way I knew I should do it.

I don't think I need worry about my route home... either they've gone because they were arrested or because they could get going!

Think you misunderstand, if they have been arrested, they may remember the cyclist they had an altercation with, and put 2 & 2 together....

CAR INSURANCE - makes no sence

My son, 24 yrs old 6 years no claims drives a fully modified MK5 Golf GTI stage 3 map - full air ride suspension- short shifter - sports exhaust etc etc all fully declared and agreed value 6k.
So he gets a new job and needs a sensible car to commute in so off he goes and gets a 2.0 diesel VW Passat - value 6k - guess what, his insurance goes up from just over £600 to just over £800 !!
Makes no sense to me -

So within 14 days he cancelled the insurance, moved back to a specialist in modified car insurance, had the car mapped by a mate for the price of a drink, has had the exhaust modified (replaced back box with none standard) and saved £150 on his annual premium.

Still makes no sense to me.......

Rather reminds me when I took the Saab off the road - highly modified - and replaced it with the Focus ST of pretty similar performance and the specialist insurer wanted me to pay 5 times the amount for the Saab and get a black box installed! I pointed out that they may have my age wrong by a decade and that my Maser insurance is 1/4 of their quote and said goodbye.

Can I just say that I was not terribly pleased to find these creases in my driver's door yesterday morning. Didn't notice them when I got into the car to drive home the night before. Clearly a parking idiot who was also cowardly and/or criminal.

I feel your pain - found a ding in my drivers door today myself and like you it was clearly someone else and not me!

In my case I imagine it’s £40 Dentmaster type fix but still ............

I really can’t understand how people can damage property and walk away without a care in the world!

bar stewards, that's exactly why it takes me at least 10 minutes to find an end spot and as far away as possible so it's on its own (drives my wife crazy), hate car park dings and tw-ats that have no respect, fecking parking space size don't help either, who the feck came up with those measurements needs shooting

It think it may partly be a Maserati thing - the terror or a massive bill outweighing a moral obligation. But even still....

There is no rational. I see people driving through blatant red lights every morning, joined a roundabout today, I’m going all way round to leave at 3 o’clock position, I’m all ready transitioning and indicating left and a guy at the 12 o’clock pulls straight out in front of me to turn into my exit... clearly I was wrong, he was driving a Range Rover, I need one....
