Yeah, my point was it's not actually true. You might get prosecuted: 'If you are stopped by police while driving in a potentially dangerous manner or your footwear is a reason for an accident, you could be charged with driving without due care and attention (careless driving).'

And that might lead to up to 9 points and a £5000 but driving in flip-flops (or sandals, or bear feet) is not, of itself, illegal

C
I would have thought that 9 points would automatically follow if a bear was driving

I need to rant….So my eldest Dan who is 15 has been isolating due to a case of COVID in his class. He has been fine and spent 10 days at home. He went back to school on Monday for us to have another message from the school last night to say he had to isolate for 10 days again as there had been another case in his year. On the Wednesday night he did a test like he does every Wed and was Ok yet he still now has to stay off for 10 days and miss his Duke of Edinburgh hike and sleep out on the weekend where he would get his award put to bed. Plus he has exams next week as well and he will miss his last sports day in school which he is also looking forward to. He will then not go back until September as the 10 days takes him into the holidays. So why a rant…Well I see the Euros and Wimbledon and the multi 1000’s of people not follow rules and no one really giving a rats **** because it’s lifting the countries spirits and I have to ask myself how the **** is this right….Feels like one rule for one…..Very unhappy son….Rant over.

Weddings cancelled by my friends because numbers do not allow yet 60000 can hug and kiss and cuddle at a Wendyball game.
A friend paid £2000 to stand and watch the semi final. He (and wife) are flying down again on Saturday to go to some race meeting staying overnight and going to the final on Sunday. His 8 year old daughter is isolating because someone tested+ive in her class. They expect the child's grandmother to babysit for them while they go on this little jolly.
It boils my ****

Just that they spent £2000 to watch a football match would in its self be enough to boil my ****. What a strange saying!

And just add to this….

So on the weekend we had a tx to say that Dan didn’t have to isolate for 10 days as he had not come in close contact with the teacher three days into his 2nd isolation. His D of E had been cancelled already so that didn’t happen. Ah well at least he was back to school Monday….No!!!!! Monday morning this week he opened the door and stepped out to go to school only for Liz call him back in as she had a tx to say the year had to isolate for 10 days !!!!!!!! This time he had to as it was someone in his class. The tx said the 10 days started from last Thursday when he was last in contact. WHAT……So he has had two tests since then both negative. So that’s his year 10 done as that takes him into the summer holidays. At least this is changing when he goes back.

4 weeks of minor snagging jobs on the SZ, max of 4 weeks I was told and that was last September before lockdown, regular check ins and then agreed delivery date to the mechanic for MOT, belts and service back in June, holidays from work booked, flights, hotels and ferries all booked only to get a call yesterday (planned delivery date to the mechanic), it won't be ready, they have found a couple of areas that they are not happy with and they require more time to correct it - is it OK if they keep it until the end of August.

August they have had the thing 10 months, did they not think to check it in detail before now, at no time it has been with them did they think to tell me there might be more to do than they thought, why the feck did they only find this on delivery day - boils my blood. Only positive they will arrange to take it over to the mechanic when painted, they are offering to ceramic coat it and then they will arrange delivery back to me in Ireland and none of the extra work is going to be chargeable.

However all plans to see friends and family whilst over collecting are out of the window, flights, ferries and hotels can be moved not cancelled so unless I can find another time to get over there it will be £250 down the pan but more annoying is I will miss another summer of car shows with it.

Well if they are going to deliver it when done, why not just go now anyway, enjoy the friends, check the car yourself for anything they missed so there is not a problem when it turns up on your doorstep without recourse..

Trip was based on collecting the car, I can fly over meet some friends but then I need the car to get North to see family and get to the ferry. I could get a hire car and book a return flight back but that would be more cost and to be honest seeing the car now will probably just make me even madder

Might find they actually haven't done anything at all and they are playing on the fact that you are too far away to visit, and they now have 5 weeks to get it done.
Hope I'm wrong of course!
