Reading error codes on an early 3200GT

Hi all.

I am new to this thread. I have a 1999 3200GT and I am getting an error message. The previous owner very nicely gave me all the tools I require for trouble shooting these problems.

I have

the correct cables
an Interface Installation Manual
a FTDI installation guide
a UnidiagKWP2000_0_5_0_11 file
and a CDMv.2.12.28 WHQL certified file

Unfortunately I also have a small CD that is damaged. Some of the silver coating has flaked away. I am not sure what is on this disk but the when I run the UniDiag I get a message on my laptop saying 'System Error' and that it can't find the 'FTD2XX.dll was not found'. I am assuming this is part of the program that was on my small CD

Does anyone know what piece of software I am missing?

Thank you in advance.

Paul

redsonnylee (Tony) on this forum has the software. The damaged CD is software available from Scantool (scantool-direct.co.uk) which is the USB to serial port drivers for the KKL interface. You can download the files from scantool site. Trust this helps.

Sorry been busy this morning, I have the file versions 0_3_3_1 & 0_4_0_3, which I’ve been sending out for a few years now so know they work.

If you get stuck let me know & will send you a copy of both.

Hi! Having myriad problems with my 3200 and thought it would be a good idea to get the software working. I have downloaded both Unidiag kwp2000 and Kpw71 (airbag i understand). Neither will run on a windows 10 laptop. Has anyone got the software that will work on Windows 10 please?

My understanding is this will not work on Windows 10, due to the port/cable which runs very slow 9600 baud from memory. You will need an older version of Windows. I use XP, if you are anywhere near KT2 I can let you use mine. I bought an old laptop for exactly this reason £25 on eBay at the time.

As far as I am aware the software has not been updated since this version was released more than 10 years ago.

Many thanks that's really helpful. Mine is a non-runner at the moment, no MOT, but coming back from a 20-year slumber is a painful process, so i will try to get the laptop up and running - probably less of a challenge than the car.....

Good luck, gosh a lot to do after 20 years. Post up any issues you find & hopefully the forum can help you.

Hi guys, I'm a newcomer to this forum and I came here to help out a good friend with his Quattroporte IV Evoluzione (the check engine light in lit in the instruments cluster).
The car was bought in 2000 and it has the 3200 V8 Twin Turbo Engine with the 4CM ECU. I have checked and found the grey 3-pin ISO connector under the passenger's footwell carpet.
So.. not really a 3200GT but well worth to try and use the Unidiagkwp2000.

For the sake of any future debugging (expected!) I have read the previous 13 pages of this thread to have some knowledge base of what to expect before declaring war on the ECU :p
I am configuring a XP laptop as I am writing this post and I have the VAG KKL and the Fiat 3-pin to OBD2 converter.
The VAG KKL cable has been tested on a Win7 laptop with VCDS-Lite. Works well.

The thing is: the links for the installation manual, Unidiagkwp2000 and Unidiagkw71 are not working.
Would anyone be so kind to share them?
I would prefer an already tested version, i.e., working for you :)

Cheers guys!
I will keep you updated ;)

I’ll PM you the installation files when I get home this this evening.

Before staring the battle, here's the fun part (maybe some eyes will look here :p ):
- on my Windows 7 laptop, the drivers that were automatically installed were the CH340 drivers, and the cable proved itself to work with VCDS-Lite on a VW car.
But the CD that came with the cable also contains the FTDI drivers.
So, as recommended previously, on the new XP machine I will install the FTDI drivers on the windows system before ever plugging in the VAG KKL cable.

I have read earlier discussions about using a CH340 vs. a genuine FTDI chipset.
To be honest, I don't now which chipset is hardwired inside my cable (I haven't opened it - yet!).
Shouldn't it be indifferent? I mean, the purpose of any USB to TTL driver software is to emulate a (virtual) COM port from the USB connection and stream a bunch of bits and bytes in and out?

Anyways, let's see how this goes :)

Hi
I tried to attach the 2 zip files I think you need but forum won't attach
I know they work since I have just had to re install when old XP laptop hit the dust.
If you let me have an e mail I can send direct
Thanks

Ok so seems PM will allow attachment of Zip files so have sent the two sets over.
Hopefully these do the job
