My QP ha been with GP Birmingham for a couple of months. When I get it back it will never go near them again! Nor will I.

Well my first experience of needing some assistance came about last week. So I dropped the car at BHP (nr Aylesbury) for a battery change (it'd let me down twice after not being driven for a few days), an investigation into whether the tracker may have been draining it unduly, a new set of mats (whoo-hoo!) and sourcing / "installing" a trickle charger. Parts came to £430 (inc VAT) and a grand total of 3/4 of an hr of labour = £51 + VAT (labour rate is about £68 ph if I recall). I mean, how many main dealers - regardless of brand - would charge you so little when they could've easily mugged me for a couple of hours!? AND, he gave it a quick wash too.

Neil at BHP was very accommodating, happy to talk Lambos, Ferraris and all the rest of it, showing me what they had around the place. Thoroughly professional, welcoming, decent and all-round although my experience is so far small, I'm more than happy to recommend them - and indeed have to a couple of local acquaintances.

As an aside, I asked for a guide for servicing - about £550 from memory was his response, which strikes me as quite decent (I may proven a fool naive fool now!).

A quick recommendation for Autoshield. I just spent more than I should have with Marios and team in Chorlton, but that's more testament to their diligence and the state of my car after (it seems) being a bit sloppily looked after by previous owners...not to mention my track day shenanigans and thrashing it round Europe for a couple of weeks. I've done 9.5k in 10 months and they haven't been kind miles, mostly done around London. There was plenty to do to it, and they kept me well informed throughout the process and provided some pictures afterwards. Work done was:
Replace clutch & bearings (reading was at 96% and apparently it looked like it too)
Replace F1 pump ("throwing out oil")
Fix central locking with new solenoids
Replace broken door mirror
Fettle the boot lock
Replace spark plugs and rocker cover gasket / seals
Re-mount manifolds and replace gaskets
Fix an oil leak from the timing chain cover & replace seals
Replace oil in gearbox and engine
Fit brake discs & pads (supplied by me)
Replace oil filter, auxiliary belt and various other pieces required at a major service
Align wheels & tracking.

Marios promised me a car that I would not recognise as far as performance and transmission was concerned, and he was right. Everything feels much tighter, better coordinated and the gear-box and clutch are spot-on now. Previously, second gear was very vague at low revs until the clutch was fully engaged. Now it feels fully connected.

Just the parts from a dealer would have been more that the final bill, I think. I'm now pretty confident my Doris will survive another track day or two and another 2500mile round the twistiest mountain roads that Europe has to offer.

Oh, and for those who like this kind of thing, here's a photo of the timing chain with the cover off...

I would just like to record my vote for Bill McGrath's, a highly recommended company.

I am not a customer in the true sense but they have just done me a favour for which I will be ever grateful. My thanks to Claire and her colleagues for their assistance.

Any references or recomendations etc. for: http://www.superformancemaserati.co.uk/index.html I am tempted to collect some parts from them.

Sorry Newton, didn't see this earlier...
I have bought parts in the past (ferrari not maserati), which were sent via post no problems at all...I have also been to see their operation in Hoddesdon,
very nice people, and some good prices...some of the parts are identical to the hill engineering ones, so depending on what you are after, have a good look around.
