REPLACE STARTER ON 2013 GRAN TOURISMO

Hi- guys on a prior thread I asked about my no-crank situation- was convinced it was an electronic issue. However, went back to old school thinking and jacked the car up, and found I was getting power to the solenoid in the key-crank position. Gave the starter a whack with a hammer and it fired up. However, it wouldn't go again, so the starter and or solenoid must be bad. It's a tight fit, and looks like the top bolt is gonna be hard to get to- anyone out there ever change a starter? Tough without a hoist, so I'll be on my back in tight quarters.

is it an MC Shift or auto? It may be the bendix sticking, with an MC Shift, in gear, a wiggle of the car back and forward may release it. THey are very easy to test off the car, normally. No idea about taking it out, but, should be same for a QP too, gives more examples to google. I'd just get under there and start swearing, I'm sure it can't be that hard with decent tools on hand.

It's an auto- tight quarters, especially lying on your back with little space to work- looks like I need to remove the LH CAT and one bolt appears to be inside the bellhousing- there is a cover to remove to get to it.- the top bolt I cannot see- wondering if there is an access hole in the transmission tunnel from inside.

Update- managed to get the solenoid end plate off and contacts were pretty worn. Impossible to change one contact without removing starter, so I cleaned and sanded them as well as the plunger ring and it is now working. I will order a new starter and can now drive it to a friend's shop who has a hoist.
