I get the whole restomod thing of making an old car more up to date improving the weak points of the car without taking the character of the original away.
But changing how it looks and removing the aforementioned character kinda spoils it.

In my opinion anyway.

I think the Alfaholics GTA-R probably the peak of a restomod whilst still retaining its character.

Carbon bodied SZ would be quite something.
It’s a surprisingly porky car, and the bonnet weighs a bit like the average moon.

Doesn’t really hit the mark for me. Once you change the mechanicals to something so wildly different as an electric motor or the modern Guilia engine it’s not a resto-mod it’s a new car. The great thing with the a lot of the US ones is that they make a modern pushrod V8 so the character of the car is unchanged. In my mind the only reason for the sort of thing at the top is so you can show off at the golf club.

Spend the same on the real thing. It sounds so much better.

I think given some of the sums involved in restomods such as a Singer I’d go for something unique, a bit like the Aston Martin Victor based on a One-77. I’d go for an Alfa Romeo Scighera or Maserati Chubasco, with either Giulia QF or MC20 underpinnings.

Another realm price-wise compared to an Alfaholics machine - I love those and having seen the quality of work up close, well worth it; I don’t see those as restomods in the truest sense, especially in the manner of American restomods.

He take old Alfa's and restores them to original (if you want) but also upgrades them so they can be enjoyed like a modern car (if that is what you want).
Some of his cars are absolutely stunning.

I just like the idea of the classic looks with modern underpinnings. Some of the detailing looks really top notch, the LED lights etc. Pipe dream given the costs involved but love them nonetheless .

I’d rather have one, and it could be any of: evo37, alfaholics, singer, Jensen interceptor R, or almost anything by Retropower - than almost any modern supercar, but when you’re talking 400 grand even 200 grand it just takes the ****... sub 100 you could at least let yourself dream

I thought the same until someone went through the maths - especially the labour involved. Did I read 2000 hours at Alfaholics?
