If anyone is genuinely interested ping me, note the price quoted on the advert is for sale in ROI, export price to UK or beyond would be lower due to registration tax rebate on export.

Note this is originally a UK registered car with taxes paid in UK, so no Brexit implications as I understand it re additional costs to re-import to UK, car located 20 miles south of Dublin.

website auto fills as 4200 spyder.... which it technically is... and how it would have been registered on the central system in ROI

Every day is a school day. I thought the Anniversary Spyder was a GS not a 4200.

This has been the topic of conversation over the years......It wasn't a GS a far as I know and I remember the sales person saying the same when they came out that I spoke to. At the Motorshow it was not billed as GS either when it came out. The GS Spyder came out later than the Anniversary car.......…….It has most of the GS stuff on mind you.....

The 90th Anniversary is a 4200 Spyder with GranSport bodykit and interior, is what I'm led to believe.
However, like many low-volume manufacturers and cars of this sort, what's actually there depends on which bits were left on the shelf at the time, or sometimes what was knocked up at Southampton docks.*

*This is particularly the case with 80s/early 90s Maseratis and mid-00s Alfa Romeos, which does make the FB group rivet counters quite amusing to watch...

That is a lovely looking thing. It would be a crime for it to hang around very long. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks.... in 2 minds about selling, but can't justify holding it whilst making another equally ludicrous purchase... :)

Been after one for 10 years, but their price has got further and further away from my budget no matter how much I save.

From what I've seen on here, this is already the case with the Coupe though isn't it.
They weren't kept the same forever, small things changed, and by the time you reach the facelifted cars they are already closer to the GS than the earlier versions.
Add in the interior, body and wheels on this and surely the result is more GS than 4200, assuming the spyder was similar to the coupe in that way of course.
As you say the logistics of low-volume manufacturers, it comes up in Lotus circles a lot too where they regularly fitted whatever was in stock at the time :D

Either way, what a beautiful car!

It’s the same case with big manufacturers. In researching the Rover SD1 buying guide that’s in Classic Cars magazine this month, there are Series 1 cars with series 2 bits and vice versa when they shifted production lines. Admittedly that is peak BL bork times, though.

It’s not £80k gents, he’s not insane.
It’s €80k which is £72k in today’s money. VRT is 36% so there will be a rebate of circa €25000 due to him when exported so that can come off as well. Much more sensible at £45-50k depending on where the owner needs to be.

This is the last RHD sold in the UK, was MINT, went within a few hundred of asking price:
