I've just had my boot lid painted and it is definitely too light in colour to the rear wings . There seem to be two paint codes for Rosso Mondiale when i investigated . My car is a Gransport (2007) and thought it was 231199 .

There is also a 229121 listed.

Any clues anyone ? I need to get it re done and probably some other bits so it would be nice it the colour actually matched . Maserati did nt use a tinted laquer or anything odd like that did they to get the deep dark red ??

cheers

Best to have it colour matched to the car and not the code, especially with red as sun and age can affect it greatly.

Paintref.com. Your paint code looks correct at 231199. The other code is 2016 and different red. Looks lighter. Paint shop mix the right one?

Where did you find those from then ? and how do I find the correct one ?

They were all the same colour - just used on different FCA models - found the PPG code on the car and stuck with that one - also PPG has a colour code database you can download in excel and you can see there all the codes for the paints

Well that is odd then . Its definitely lighter and he mixed the correct paint code . Unless my car has been re painted at some point maybe ? But I don t think so.

I've just ordered a Chipex touch up kit in the correct colour to check just that .

Don't read too much in to the Chipex colour match, Sparts. I had one for my Grigio Alfieri GTS and it was close enough for stone chips but didn't seem a perfect match.

Mind you, I'd had the front bumper painted previously so quite possible the Chipex was spot on and the bumper wasn't.
