Runflat tyres

Hi all

Anyone run any run flats on a granturismo?

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or advice on this, given that the puncture situation is always going to be a potential issue because of lack of spare.

Hi, i have not had them on the GT, however any car i have ever had them i removed instantly. Always found them loud and **** after 5mm or so, i would imagine it would have a large impact on the firmness of the suspension due to less rubber.

Ok good to know. Never used them. Just thinking might be an option due to lack of spare tyre but maybe not.
Thanks

Ditto. Dreadful nasty things. Hard, noisy, especially Continental fitted standard to BMW, how to make a bad thing worse

I had them on my last BMW, they were a lot better than the first set I had. There are, however, some good reasons why not.

I understand most RFTs need a specific wheel rim, with a profile that prevents the bead slipping into the well when running flat.

You cannot repair a punctured RFT that has worked without air. This means it really is a tyre of last resort.

I had Bridgestone potenza Run flats on my BMW 650. Replaced them with Goodyear super sports and like others have said it was like a different car. Run flats = harsh ride, noises, **** grip.
