Service Consumables - GT 4.2

Hi Guys

Getting a major service done at the local specialist and he's okay with me supplying the consumables.
Doing some Googling and see that HR Owen offer a service kit for £240 on eBay. (eBay item number:331806106160)
Is this good value and might it be a saving on what I'd typically expect to pay at a specialist?

I don't mind doing a bit more legwork, if anyone's found Alfa parts that are identical.

Thanks in advance , for any suggestions :)

I realise with service items the chances of failure are remote but from hard learned experience I only use parts they supply , then if there's a problem down the line there's no ambiguity about where the fault lies , it's either their fitting or their supplied part.

My only exception to this rule is used parts where the cost saving is worth the risk.

try your local dealer , quite often they're competitive , have the parts in stock and no post to pay

I agree totally.
It gets really awkward when you have someone's car on your hoist trying to get hold of them and their phone goes to voicemail to say the parts are wrong knowing that this issue is going to cost you dearly in time and money.

I agree with the above, if the garage is doing a service, let them supply the parts.

Cheers guys. Valid points. Would you include oil in that?
Plan on using Shell Helix Ultra. Obviously garages can buy this more cheaply that I can
and also add a mark up when using it on a customer's car.
I would've thought that its not impossible to tell whether the parts we're discussing have failed due to a
manufacturing defect, or incorrect fitting. In 30+ years of motoring, I've never had a consumable fail.
But. Its definitely something to consider, especially in this instance.

I'd let them supply oil. The relationship I have with my mechanics mean we understand what would happen if parts I supplied failed. So we have a balance.
