Servicing costs

Had to look that up, someone really needs to put Lancia out of their misery.

You're not kidding , they sold 2 in the whole of europe in 2019, though if they were all similar priced you'd be mad not to buy the ghibli, it's the best looking by a country mile, I'd just get it serviced at a chrysler or lancia dealer

Though if I had the money and saw this commercial I'd be on the phone the next morning, for a petrol obviously

I had to book my daily car a DS 3 in for an MOT and its third year service at my local dealer (given how the brand has become a stand alone premium marque they call them DS Salons, but the car still gets worked on in a Citroen workshop) - I'm sure nobody's wondering but it's £240 for the Service including an engine flush, plus £15 for a Courtesy car, and the standard MOT charge on top.
Whilst my Ghibli Diesel is not due till July I was curious and thought I would enquire at my Maserati Main dealer the cost for the next service (6th year). I wrongly assumed it goes back to a basic one, but it's in fact based around the second year service that P R was discussing. However this one cost over £1500!!!

The oil and filters would be under £150

Whenever I've bought parts from a motor factor it says on the invoice , all parts supplied meet or exceed OEM specification

Charging £1500 to service a diesel is taking the ****
I had a fiat van , fiat wanted £450 for the second service so I took it to a local garage, £200 , it needed warranty work a few months after and they didn't even ask for the history

I doubt the Maserati arm would be so accommodating , yes your service history complies but the GPS shows you driving past a race track , sorry

The way the ghibli depreciates there's no way I'd be worried about a main dealer history , will it make much difference to the value on the car at PX time , certainly not £1200-1500 a service worth I wouldn't have thought.

All the diesels I've owned have been in and out in 2 hours so where they're getting £1500 from :D

Yes the 6th service is the same as the 2nd. The inclusion of a diesel filter adds a few hundred.
When I sold my previous Ghibli at 110k miles I don't think the full Maser service history made the slightest bit of difference.
I reckon I spent around 6 or 7k on servicing over its time.
As soon as this one is out of warranty its going independent

Apart from spark plugs, I am not sure there is that much difference between servicing petrol or diesel.

Crossland fuel filter £18.52 at ECP
Mann £41.59

Maserati don't make filters, they just make the box

Is it just me that thinks £1500 for a service is nuts ,

Has anyone ever got a price from one of the other franchises with the same engine in to see what the difference is or are you just happy to hand over the price of a decent holiday for a service

£1500 for a Ghibli diesel service? Absolute nuts! Get an independent to change oil & filter etc. You’ll never get that money back on resale. It’s ridiculous.

That is madness. We charge £495 Ghibli D / P basic, another £100 if its air filters and the Aux belt is a total nightmare of a job so without looking its about £200 parts and labour.

Spark plugs on a Ghibli P costs us about £150 from memory and half an hour fitting.

All prices plus VAT.

Its not just the filters and fluids, its the £50k of diagnostics plus licences, premises, heating, lighting, advertising....the list goes on.

All our cars get a complete brake strip down, drill the vent holes, repaint all the discs, grease and reassmbly so that's a couple of hours.

Diagnostic checks, greasing all the door, locks and hinges, lubing the seatbelts and window plus all the other little fixes that come with it.

A good hour of valeting and then on top of it all we get charged environmental disposal for all the old fluids.

You can't really base it agains non gen parts on your drive but do accept there are people who take the **** and those are the ones that don't give the cars the time and attention they should get.

Totally agree with you Matt and I have stated the facts a few times on here.
Do you give customers a proper espresso coffee and Danish pastries ?

Other than the petrol is two years if you don’t do the miles.

The price is silly and partially explains why you can buy a Ghibli for sub £20k. Shame as they need to realise that this kills the brand.

The thing is they've put the prices up by some margin. First time I got my ghibli d serviced out of the plan it was about 680 iirc.. that service is now a good 30% more. And with less customer care. Cost to collect or cost for courtesy car when both used to be included

Yep. £599 for five services on my XC90. Price inclusive on some brands like Ferrari and AM. I know things are priced in or subsidised but when faced with that sort of pricing on a £50k car peeps buy different next time.

There's a 3 and 5 year plan on new masers now. This one had first service when owned by dealer so wasn't on a plan and now you can't add one
