Silverstone Centenary Parade Lap

Ah, I'll be that ar**hole you were referring to at 1m05s LOL.

Just to explain, Merrian 'Blondie' (in the yellow MC Stradale behind us), Stuart (in the matt black MC Stradale in front of us), and I (in the black GranCabrio MC) were trying to line up all three MCs together, hence me changing lanes. I'd already asked the other drivers around us if it was okay, hence Robert left me a great big gap for me to move in in front of him. But as you can see it didn't quite pan out, as although Merrian and I managed to stay together, Stuart set off before us, hence you ended up behind him on the track LOL. Looks like you enjoyed the drive :D

And I assume the guy in the MC Cabrio was the same gent who spent about an hour trying to position his GoPro whilst in the pit lane. Made my day that did....
Yep, that was me LOL. The GoPro wasn't mine, and the guy who lent it to me had buggered off.

The problem was that although the GoPro worked fine just before leaving the Club display area, it then 'froze' when I tried to start it back up again in the pitlane. To make matters worse, Merrian discovered that the battery in her (head-mounted) GoPro as was flat :(

So in attempt to try and get 'my' GoPro to work, we decided to take it out of the holder, in order to remove the battery and reset it. Problem was that the holder appeared to have been fastened using a screwdriver, so I had to use the one in the car's tool kit to release the GoPro! Once we got it to work, I then saw Stuart mount his on the rear of his Stradale; hence thinking if I mount 'mine' on the front of my car he could get footage of Merrian and I, and I could get footage of his car. But as we know, that didn't go quite according to plan either LOL. But at least we got one of them to work ok in the end. I've emailed Stuart and waiting to hear back from him about his footage.

Aside from the GoPro 'freezing', I was really impressed by it, leaving me tempted to get one for the Centenary trip in September.

Ha ha. I must have missed you saying that, otherwise it would have made me chuckle LOL.
I've no reason to think Stuart's GoPro didn't work, so we should have 2 out of the 3 (possible) videos.

Where were you in the pitlane Phil? I'm still trying to put faces to names on here.

I was next to you in a Silver 3200. Nearest to track side.
Ah, cool. Shame we never got to have a chat. As was said earlier in this thread (or another) we all probably met other members from this forum on the day without even realising it LOL. It wasn't until we were all in the pitlane having a quick natter that Dicky (Grace) and Robert 'hodroyd' introduced themselves. So now we know who each other is we can hopefully have a proper natter next time round.

Yep, I introduced myself to Robert ( I just smelt the Cigar first!) and also had a length chat to Dicky about the cars etc.... Top guys!

Yep, they both seemed cool. Unfortunately we didn't manage to chat much as it was all a bit 'last minute' (thanks to the issues with the GoPro LOL). But I'll be seeing Dicky this Sunday at Carfest North, so we'll have the chance to have a proper natter then :)

It was a great weekend, and the lap was great fun. I think I was the only person there who let their wife drive though - she was a bit nervous but given my record at Silverstone I thought it safer

Besides it meant I could point out of the window at the aeroplanes and distract HER for a change :)

This from the Maserati Forum (due credit etc):

“It is with enormous pleasure that I can finally announce that we had over 245 Maserati Cars on Display on the Sunday of the Event, & everyone who signed the track drive form was allowed to drive around the full Grand Prix Circuit that Lunchtime!

Unfortunately, the Organisers were running over time, so we were only allowed 1 lap of the Circuit, to help them catch up on time, but all those we spoke to said they enjoyed it Immensely.

We had over 100 cars on the Friday of the Event, which was a normal work day for many, & on the Saturday, we had over 170 cars on display, but the BIG day was the Sunday, where the number booked was 245, so it looks like it was a big success!

There were many older Racing Cars on special display in 2 separate Marquees all weekend, & quite a few not on display were actually racing in different Events, so the public at large saw more MASERATI's than at any time in the History of this or any other Event held in this Country.

Thank you ALL who were there & I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, whatever day you came, it helped make it a wonderful Show for Maserati as a Manufacturer, & ourselves as a Club, we had many, many great compliments made to us during the whole weekend by the Public, who were very complimentary, thanks Guys & Gals, you helped to make it a great Event.

Peter. “
