Hi Loz
If that is the price difference then I am really interested in what can be done to refurbish the clutch plates. Given the QP will not gain any value in near future given its high mileage and running costs, if this solution keeps it ticking then I will choose to go down this route. Please see if you can find details of this outfit and share. Much appreciated.Thanks.

Will do once this is all over and we can travel again , i know where they are in Stevenage , but for the life of me i cant remember their name , small engineering shop specialising refurbishing brake pads , classic cars clutches and successfully specialised in doing Lambo clutches because they had a similar problem

Thanks Loz. Stevenage is not too bad for me. If it can be done then I can go there rather quickly.

The issue I can see with that is, if a garage supplies and fits the parts then something goes wrong it's their problem, if you supply the parts and there's a problem it's down to you to negotiate between the two parties , garage says faulty parts, supplier says faulty fitting , you're left with a non running car and a bill from both.

I never supply my own parts for that reason

Now that is true as well. Lets see. Hopefully I am able to look in to a not too painful part ex before the clucth goes kaput. I must say since the QP has been going to Voicey's it is driving true to form. Absolutely no hesitation through gears.

The reading is mostly an estimate from what I read, as my mechanic used to say , if it ain't broke don't fix it

I like the R500 but then there is the unicorn R63! If that came on now I will be looking to go that way. Else I will choose the R350 L non blue-efficiency version as it is more reliable.

Knowing how much of an unlikely giggle the R500 is, I too would be very tempted by an R63 but the only two I have seen come up for sale both had intergalactic mileages.

I'd also think if you can find a dealer prepared to deliver a car and collect yours at the same time your chances of negotiating a reasonable price for your PX are higher during lockdown

I sold a car to WBAC the sunday before lockdown , they didn't even drive it , checked for body damage , started it , lights went out ,deal done

Good advice that. I will hunt around. MOT cancelled by email this morning! Have now found another accommodating garage to do this today itself.
I do have a kindly offer on table now pending MOT is cleared. I do not know if any merc or independent dealers are open now to offer such service.
No R class at any merc dealers anyway!

Mine falls in bracket before end of march. So has to be done. Has been postponed twice now. And then cancelled. Insurance gets invalidated if i drive without one :(. Makes all the driving fun illegal.

Ring your insurance, it's not illegal to drive without MOT as long as you're going to a pre booked mot station and directly there , they just have to be told and agree, however I do believe if it fails with majors it's illegal to drive it back as it's unroadworthy

R class lol, go for the GL or GLS (current gen). A 7 seater and so much nicer looking.

MOT cleared pending one tyre change as expected. Ordered off black circle and will be here tomorrow. No other advisory. Good for now.

You are sir 100% correct ,that's why I said it's a judgment call , personally it depends on ones circumstances , I previously had and most likely have contact in the trade where I could project manage and be present during the repair , that's why I explored it a few years back

MOT is now done. Only the tyre change required which was done today.
I do have an interested buyer on the forum for whom I have taken some photos of the underside and subframe area. I attach these below.
I would really appreciate if anyone can advise what you can conclude about the condition. I do intend to make an honest sale so would not like to mislead any potential buyer.
Thanks in advance.

I would say your subframes look ok and could benefit from a surface clean and protective coating. For a car of it age and miles probably yours is one of the better ones.

Undertray needs to come off to assess front subframe condition It looks marginal tbh. Also needs a good poke around in area between upper and lower wishbones

The ares of concern are not necessarily visible. Dirt collected on the upper surfaces will rust in crevices so looking from below not the best angle. Looking from above has lots of engine in the way.
