Thanks to everyone here for all the help and advice over the last few years. I sold my 4200 GT today, ready for a new relationship with an i8 tomorrow.
I have a few spares left I'm going to be selling if anyone is interested:
Boxed set of the group buy front brake discs
3 remote key replacement rubbers
New boxed replacement front speaker grill
Shell Helix ultra 5w40 oil one full 5L bottle and should be enough in the second to make up a full oil change.
Collection from Somerset preferred due to the weight of the brake discs and oil.

Sorry to see you go,

You'll be back once you realise that these vehicles have the personality of a washing machine...

I'm sure someone will snap up your spares shortly.

Good luck with BMW ownership

I'll let you know how I get on with the i8 after I drive back tomorrow. It was a hard decision to sell the Maserati, so pleased I was able to own one for the last three years, they are phenomenal value at the moment and I'm sure we will all kick ourselves for selling at these low prices in 5-10 years time!

I keep on looking at an i8 as a daily as the values have dropped.
Pre March 17 Road tax free too.
Would have to be main dealer though for the warranty, especially with the potential a/c compressor failures that also cools the battery pack, which is well documented and requires all the pipes replacing. ££££

Anything special from a Boxster up with at least a 6 cylinder engine will do fine 2025-2035 value wise as people will want the noise and feel of a ICE car for the weekends after driving a BEV during the week. Plenty of time to get back into something.

Mine is a 2016 so free road tax. I bought it from a private seller, but it has BMW parts and labour warranty until March 2022 and this can be extended for about £1000 per year. The amount you will save buying privately will probably get you 3 years of BMW warranty.

Pleased to hear you're enjoying the i8. The last person I know who went from 4200 (Spyder) to i8 has been in love with the new car for many years since making the change.

Looks great, love the doors and whole idea of the thing.

What’s the black car next door, I’m intrigued by the door handle?

Please keep posting your experience of the i8... I've been looking at these for ages, but can't make my mind up.
