Spark plug replacement

Not that I, at this point in time, think I need the services of a video to tell me how to remove the spark plugs from an engine.... but, there are very limited options on the tube of you that are UK based and show spark plug changes on the 4.2 v8.

It seems the two closest to the bulkhead will be the tightest and most problematic. So I'v got my box of extension bars and knuckles, before I embark (probably tomorrow afternoon) anyone have any words of wisdom?

I'll be changing one at a time, tackling most difficult first.

Yes, remove the scuttle, or struggle with the extensions etc.

I fear this will go like this:

Struggle with knuckles
Struggle more
Break something
Give up and attempt to remove scuttle
Break something removing scuttle
Remove plugs
Break more things
Find gaffer tape and cable ties
Put back together

You’re right, you didn’t need a video. ;)

To save your knuckle use WD40...

Spray liberally and let it do its magic whilst you go and have a brew and brush up on Roger Melly's Profanosaurus.

Surely not cable ties?? I thought you were getting rid of those

Changing the plugs on the 4200/GS is similar.
As the plugs are a long way down you have to use the extension bar to refit new ones.
Just be super slow, close you eyes for max concentration, and 'feel' the new spark plug engaging cleanly and screwing in with light finger tip pressure.
Just like when you are with your girlfriend/wife.
All then should be good.

It has to be said, the forum is second to none when it come to helpful advice.

I imagine even now Spoons is in the garage, with WD-40 on his knuckles, Barry White on the sound system and has qualified for the Olympic swearing team.
